Orlando City's first five seasons in Major League Soccer have been nothing short of chaotic, so why would the club's first-ever match in the MLS Cup Playoffs be any different? Oscar Pareja's side overcomes a red card against right back Ruan late in the second-half and another in a penalty shootout against goalkeeper Pedro Gallese to beat New York City FC and reach the Eastern Conference semifinals. Nani's successful penalty kick in the fifth minute was quickly negated by a Maxime Chanot header at the other end, and NYCFC was denied the lead right before halftime by a remarkable double save from Gallese. Following missed chances at the end of both the second half and extra time, Orlando thought it had the penalty shootout won when Gallese stopped Valentin Castellanos' attempt, but he was adjudged to be off the line, resulting in a second yellow card. Orlando tried to sub in backup keeper Brian Rowe, but the Lions had used all their subs. Defensive substitute Rodrigo Schlegel donned the gloves for the remainder of the shootout, and amazingly saved an NYCFC attempt right after Nani was denied by Sean Johnson, allowing Benji Michel to step up and win it for Orlando. #ESPNFC #MLS #OrlandoCity #NYCFC
