John Wolford, NFL Quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams suffered a brutal hit to the head during the game against the Seattle Seahawks taking him out of the game and to the hospital. Jamal Adams’s shoulder pad made contact with Wolford’s head as he was diving forward. Here I will review the footage of the hit, discuss the anatomy, and review some criteria for return to play. In axial loading injuries, it is important to stabilize the c-spine before we are able to clear it at the hospital or when using imagining. Failure to do so can result in paralysis. Reports state that Wolford was released from hospital that day which is extremely reassuring for his prognosis.
