Arizona State led by Jayden Daniels defeated the Seminoles 20-14 with the help of 6 turnovers. ASU's Sun Bowl victory brings their overall record in the bowl game to 4-2-1. ASU's first appearance in the Sun Bowl was a 0-0 tie with Catholic University. The next year ASU lost to Western Reserve University led by player Steve Belichick, father of New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick 26-13. ASU defeated Iowa in 1997, Purdue 2004, Duke 2014 and lost to NC State 2017. The crowd of over 42,000 enjoyed the chilly but sunny weather of 50 degrees.
