Former England Sevens captain, Rob Vickerman joins Brian Moore to recap the final weekend of the 2021 Six Nations tournament, following a Super Saturday that lived up to its name. After England failed to back up their impressive performance at home to France, Brian and Rob agree that Eddie Jones' squad is in need of an overhaul but that replacing the coach is not the solution. The highlight of the weekend, and tournament, came in Paris on Saturday night where Wales' march to an unlikely Grand Slam was halted with the final play of the game. Former Ospreys head coach Sean Holley says the nation is heartbroken but ultimately proud of how the team has turned itself around from a dismal 2020. And we hear from former England captain Katy Daley-McLean about the new WXV tournament set to revolutionise the women's game. England flanker Tom Curry alleged to referee Ben O’Keeffe that South Africa hooker Bongi Mbonambi called him a “white c---” during the Springboks’ World Cup semi-final victory. The incident occurred just before the half-hour mark with England leading 9-3 as Curry approached O’Keeffe, the New Zealand official. On the referee’s microphone, Curry can be clearly heard asking, “Sir, Sir, if their hooker calls me a white c--- what do I do?” O’Keeffe replies: “Nothing please.” He then adds “I will be on it” although it is not clear if this in reference to Curry’s complaint, but he takes no action against Mbonambi. There is no audible evidence of Mbonambi’s alleged abuse. After the final whistle, Mbonambi refused to shake Curry’s hand. Following the game the Sale Sharks openside was asked if Mbonambi said something he should not have, he replied, “yeah” but would not confirm the exact details. “It does not need to be talked about.” Read more: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2023/10/22/tom-curry-south-africa-bongi-mbonambi-racism-accusations/ #rugbyworldcup #england #southafrica #BongiMbonambi #TomCurry #slur Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months.
