Upper classmen from Northern Illinois University Marching Band storm into central Florida for a holiday show. Getting the fans ready for a gridiron tilt between the NIU Huskies and the speedy Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
While the football team rested their best players in preparation for the MAC conference championship, the home crowd roared their approval for the band seniors. The football Huskies bowed to Western Michigan University, 42-21. Backup quarterback Hampton was sacked more than Matt Nagy. During the halftime show, NIU marching band reprised theLatin favorites show. Frigid November temperatures chilled the stands, but hot tropical music sizzled on the field. Congratulations to the musical seniors for their magnificent performances over the last 4 years. We appreciate your hard work and amazing talent. The NIU marching band will strut it’s stuff on December 4th at noon in Ford Field in Detroit Michigan. There is a distinct possibility the the football team will go to a bowl game where the marching band may perform again.
It was a beautiful day in DeKalb, Illinois, for the first home game of the season. While the fans suffered disappointment for the varsity football team, they took pride in the fantastic performance by the marching band. Rocky Lombardi rallied the Huskie team for a fourth quarter lead, 43-42. However, Wyoming scored a late touchdown and prevailed, 50-43. It was an exciting contest. Thanks to the students who played and marched and drowned out our sorrows!
Cruising above the clouds at 8,000 feet. We look down through a few holes in the clouds to see fuzzy farmland on the Wisconsin/Illinois border. Tightly hugging the great magenta line, we bore ahead to BJ's Airport Bar and Grill. We carefully dodge Restricted area 6901B and any possible artillery fire in R-6901A. On departure, we file for 6,000 feet, which was reportedly above the clouds. Leveling off near Rockford, we enjoy 30 minutes of constant light chop in solid IMC conditions. Despite the thrill of navigating through the clouds, we choose to request 8,000 feet from Rockford Approach. This brings us to this video, where we see blue skies and puffy cloud tops.
