We Were WRONG About Ben Simmons...3pt THREAT!!!

Watching Ben Simmons airball completely wide open threes is nothing new. I mean look at this shot. It looks like a total amateur shot it. But what if I told you the secret that nobody mentions. That Simmons is actually a huge 3 point threat. Confused? Let me explain. What up everybody my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it. The sixers point guard is 1 for 6 from downtown so far this season, and here is the only three for you to see in all of its glory. However even with this insignificant line, and even with all the criticism towards him throughout the years, there is one statistic that will completely change your perception about him in relation to 3 point shooting. Check this out. Simmons leads the league in 3 point assists with 93, but the most staggering thing is the fact that when Ben Simmons is on the floor, the Sixers are shooting almost 41% on threes which is the second best percentage in the league at the moment. However when he’s off the floor, that number goes down to 29.0% which is by far the worst mark of any team in the league. That’s an unbelievable difference and we have to go deeper and try to break down why this happens. To be honest however, the story is pretty simple. The guy is a 1 man wrecking crew. Right here, he goes head first against 4 Timberwolves defenders all trying to stop him from getting to the rim. And as you can see, with nobody around him-Tobias Harris has all the time in the world to shoot this practice shot. And against Boston, at this moment Simmons is almost the last person on the court, but he outruns everyone with the ball in his hands, and again 4 guys around him, finds the open shooter and the bucket of course. And I can already hear you saying it, this is in transition but what happens when the game slows down. In half court offense. Well check out what happens. Right here Embiid is fighting for position and seems open for the lob. Ben is gonna fake the pass and get the help defender to commit and then rifle a bullet pass to Danny Green in the corner. There’s no time for a recovery and the open shot goes in. There are a ton of examples however as you can see- where Simmons penetrates and outmuscles his primary defender, so the help has to come, and he’s so intelligent that as soon as he sees that second body, immediately looks for the shooter. It’s either the penetration or the backdown that forces the opposing teams to send help and to leave a guy like Seth Curry, Danny Green or Tobias Harris just waiting for their opportunity to knock it down. And speaking of Seth Curry I’ve said it in a previous video but to me the guy really is an elite shooter. He’s not just Steph’s brother anymore. Way more than that. Shooting 49.3% from downtown is absolutely deadly, and if I’m Doc Rivers, I will look for ways to get his attempts way higher, since 2 out of 4 shots is way too low, Curry has proven that he can knock it down. But back to Simmons, I just wanted to make this video just for myself first and foremost, since I’m really not the biggest fan of his. I feel like having no shot is really limiting especially in the playoffs, but then when I saw the numbers it hit me, and I guess Doc Rivers was right when he said that in order to really appreciate Ben, you need to coach him, and really see how the game goes with and without him. Both on offense and on defence. That’s it for now, subscribe and help me get to 500 thousand subscribers. Talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

What LUKA Did To The Clippers Should Be ILLEGAL...

Luka got tackled by Kris Dunn last night! But the Lakers responded with some genius plays down the stretch. So, let’s start from the beginning of the city rivals game where Doncic got super busy! Oh Oooh, when he starts pulling up 3’s from way downtown, you know you’re in trouble. And the best thing is, he was just heating up. Heat Check! Luka went crazy in the opening minutes, hitting 5 of 5 from beyond the arc. And he was staring at the Clippers bench after each and every one of them. His hot streak ended on the next possession when he initially got the whistle for 3 free throws, but after the challenge by Ty Lue, the call got overturned. This only added fuel to the fire because… Doncic with the block on Harden on one end and then the tough layup in transition! It was a full display of his arsenal as Luka counted to 24 points in the 1st quarter! Unbelievable! And speaking of that, check this out!Kobe Brown exploded to the rack, putting both Laravia and Kleber on a poster! Despite Luka’s brilliance, the Clippers actually had a 1 point lead after 12 minutes of action. #nba #lukadoncic #lakers
