TCU Puts Three Game Losing Streak To a Halt After Defeating West Virginia 77-67

FORT WORTH, TX – TCU (17-8 , 6-7) put their three game losing streak to a halt after defeating West Virginia (12-13, 3-11) 77-67 in Fort Worth on Monday night. We talked about it before the game how rebounding and defense was going to be the key ingredient for TCU tonight and that’s exactly what they did. The Frogs out rebounded the Mountaineers 42-24 and that was the difference maker in tonight’s game. “We out rebound and that’s something we do really well and something we need to keep doing.” Head Coach Jamie Dixon told us post game. Both teams were playing solid offense in the first half. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor and 60 percent from beyond the arc. TCU had some careless turnovers that kept West Virginia in the game. TCU led 43-42 at the half and that was solely because of turnovers. Second half got underway and TCU started to pull away midway through the second half. TCU had great ball movement and penetration to the basket. The Frogs had all five starters score in double figures tonight. “We had good passing, good decision making, good job entering the lane”, Coach Dixon said. The one thing that TCU does need to work on is their turnovers later down the stretch. TCU gave the ball up 16 times in this game and that number will need to come down if they want to compete against some of these harder teams that are coming up. “We just have to cut down on turnovers. We are working on it and we are just going to have to keep working on it.” Coach Dixon explained after the game. Emanuel Miller led the Frogs tonight with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Mike Miles added 15 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Taz Sherman led the way for West Virginia with 23 points, one rebound, and two assists. The Frogs were without Eddie Lampkin tonight. Lampkin got injured last game and decided earlier today that it was best he did not play tonight. Lampkin is a big force for TCU down low but the Frogs knew how to handle it. They took control under the basket, crashed the boards, and got the win. TCU will head to Austin on Wednesday to play no. 20 Texas at 6:00 PM. #TCU #WestVirginia #CollegeBasketball
