Marshall, ODU & Southern Miss Leaving C-USA NOW?!

College football conference realignment continues to be in the news. In this Marshall, ODU & Southern Miss Leaving C-USA Now video, I will talk about the Conference USA standoff against the three schools as they try to depart the conference and join the Sun Belt Conference a year earlier than originally planned. I will talk about the impact this disagreement could have on other teams in C-USA, as well as it’s affect on the Sun Belt Conference and the NCAA as a whole. After Texas & Oklahoma announced in August 2021 that they were planning to leave the Big 12 for the SEC, it started the domino effect of conference realignment. One of those dominoes was Cincinnati, Houston & UCF leaving the AAC for the Big 12. This led to the AAC taking teams from the Sun Belt and Conference USA. To replace those teams who were leaving for the AAC, the Sun Belt invited three more C-USA schools; Marshall, Old Dominion & Southern Miss, to join the conference. The schools accepted, thus leaving even more holes to fill in C-USA. The original agreement was for the three schools to leave after the 2022-23 season. Now, they have all decided to try & leave by summer 2022. The conference is fighting back.
