It finished Southampton 1-1 Chelsea in a disappointing performance from Chelsea this afternoon. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel couldn’t guide his side to victory against Southampton on Saturday. The Blues went into the match at St Mary’s boasting a 100 per cent record under the German. However, they were forced to settle for just a point instead. Chelsea fell behind at St Mary’s on Saturday. Liverpool loan star Takumi Minamino broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, bamboozling the Blues defence to score. That goal came against the run of play and, in the second half, Chelsea struck to earn a point. Mason Mount converted a penalty after Danny Ings brought the England international down inside his area. Treading water under Frank Lampard towards the end of his stint as coach, the Blues look a lot more hungry and dynamic under the German. The ‘new manager bounce’ can be clearly evidenced with every player fearing for his position. Callum Hudson-Odoi is the latest to understand that Tuchel isn’t at Stamford Bridge to play games. He is brutally ruthless when he needs to be, and after bringing Hudson-Odoi on at half-time against Southampton, he hooked the player on 76 minutes, giving him just 31 minutes as sub on the day. "So we brought in Hudson but with Hudson I was not happy with the energy and with the attitude and counter-pressing so we decided to take him off again as we demand a lot. 'We demand 100% and I had the feeling he was not right in this shape to help us so it's a decision for today. It's a hard decision for players to come on and off but tomorrow it's forgotten and he has all possibilities to start against Atletico."
