Graham went a career-high 10-of-18 from the floor while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists. The Vaqueros (1-1) got eight points from sophomore Jena’ Williams, who also added five rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Halie Jones also scored eight points while grabbing six rebounds. Adryana Quezada paced UTSA (1-1) with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Yuliyana Valcheva added 12 points with nine rebounds. The Roadrunners jumped out to the quick 12-2 lead after a jumper from Valcheva with 5:01 left in the first quarter. Jones then kicked of a 9-3 run for the Vaqueros as she knocked down a jumper that made it 12-4. UTRGV then got a layup from sophomore Sydney Cajero, an old-fashioned three-point play from Amara Graham and another layup from Cajero to get within 15-11 at the end of the first. Graham opened the second quarter with four-straight points as she knocked down a jumper and converted a pair of free throws to tie the game at 15-15. Freshman Arianna Sturdivant then knocked down a pair of three-pointers to give UTRGV the 21-19 lead with 4:15 left in the half. UTRGV got back-to-back buckets from Graham and senior Iva Belosevic to push its lead to 25-21 with 2:46 left in the half. Then, Graham added a three-pointer followed by a layup by sophomore Tiffany McGarity that gave the Vaqueros the 30-25 lead at the end of the half. Graham and McGarity teamed up once again with back-to-back buckets to open the third quarter giving UTRGV the 34-35 lead. UTSA answered with a 7-0 run to get within 34-32 but a jumper by Graham made it 38-34 UTRGV with 2:11 left in the third. In the fourth, UTSA got within 44-40 after a pair of free throws by Valcheva but UTRGV put together a 13-4 run to take its biggest lead of the night at 57-44 to put the game out of reach. UTRGV will be back in action on Wednesday, December 2, when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 4 p.m. at Bert Ogden Arena in the Bert Ogden Arena series, presented by the City of Edinburg, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union. GoUTRGV.com May 10, 2026 – STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros baseball closed out the regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Tarleton State Texans on Sunday at Tarleton State Baseball Complex. UTRGV advances to the Lamar Bracket of the Southland Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed facing No. 6 seed Northwestern State Thursday at 1 p.m. The winner faces the winner of No. 2 Lamar and No. 7 Stephen F. Austin Friday at 6 p.m. while the losers of each game Thursday play an elimination game Friday at 1 p.m. All games of the Southland Conference Tournament are available on ESPN+. In this game, junior Easton Moomau led the Vaqueros (26-27) offensively by going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and two runs scored. Moomau led off the second with a 419’ home run to center to put the Vaqueros up 1-0. It was Moomau’s sixth home run of the season. Moomau started a two-run rally in the sixth with a single. The Vaqueros went on to load the bases with two outs, setting up a two-run double by junior Rocco Garza Gongora to put the Vaqueros up 4-1. It was Garza Gongora’s 19th double of the season, tied with Ivan Estrella (2017) and Osiel Flors (2007) for the second-highest single-season total in program history. The program record of 23 is held by Garrett Bivone (2010). The Texans (33-17) tied the game at 1 in the fourth when Slade McCloud drew a leadoff walk from sophomore Mason Engel (1-1), stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Cage McCloud sacrifice fly. In the fifth, though, senior Rene Galván drew a leadoff walk from Ashton Bassett (1-4). Graduate student Vela alum Rudy Gonzalez followed with a single. One out later, senior Thomas Williams hit a grounder to the right side. The throw to second sailed into left field, allowing Galván to score to put the Vaqueros up 2-1. The Texans pulled within 4-2 in the seventh when Rayner Heinrich drew a bases loaded walk. Freshman Augie Grohman pitched 2.0 scoreless innings for his first-career save. Senior Los Fresnos alum Víctor Loa started and struck out three in 2.0 scoreless innings.

GoUTRGV.com April 3, 2026 – RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros baseball team fell to the Northwestern State Demons 9-6 on Friday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium in front of a crowd of 2,671. The Vaqueros (14-17, 9-8 SLC) batted around in the first against Dylan Marionneaux (3-2) as the first five batters all had hits. Junior Rocco Garza Gongora opened with a double and senior Thomas Williams hit a single. Juniors Armani Raygoza and PSJA alum Julius Ramirez followed with RBI-singles. Junior Easton Moomau singled to load the bases. One out later, graduate student PSJA alum Diego Villescas walked to force-in a run and senior Hank Warren hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-0. Williams finished 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Ramirez went 2-for-5 with an RBI. The Demons (20-10, 12-5 SLC) got one back in the second when J.T. Simonelli led off with a single and Michael McAllose hit an RBI-double to make the score 4-1. The Demons scored a pair of unearned runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Joe Siervo after an inning-extending error to pull within 4-3. Graduate student Aaron Sanchez halted the Demons offense for the next two innings with his second-straight scoreless relief appearance, striking out one while scattering three hits in 2.0 innings. Ethan Menard led off the seventh with a single against senior Steven Oliva (0-2). Simonelli followed with a game-tying double. One out later, Noah McNeil, Zach White, and Sam Ardoin all singled, with McNeil and Ardoin driving in runs. Brooks Leonard capped the inning by reaching on an error that allowed Ardoin to score to put the Demons up 7-4. The Vaqueros loaded the bases on walks against Jacob LeBlanc with one out in the eighth. Villescas walked to force-in a run and Warren hit a sacrifice fly to bring the Vaqueros within 7-6. LeBlanc bounced back with a scoreless ninth for his first save. The Demons added two insurance runs in the ninth, as with a runner at third and one out, McNeil hit an RBI-double and White hit an RBI-single. UTRGV and Northwestern State complete this series Saturday at 1 p.m. during Bark in the Park, presented by Raising Cane's. Dogs will receive free bandanas while supplies last.
