The Montreal Canadiens picked up their first Stanley Cup Final win since 1993 with a 3-2 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, do they now a chance to come back from the 3-0 deficit? The Canadiens now trail the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 in the best of 7 series for the 2021 NHL Stanley Cup after Josh Anderson scored the overtime winner early in game 4. The goal came shortly after the Canadiens killed off a double minor penalty after Shea Weber high-sticked Tampa Bay Lightning Forward Ondrej Palat. Many, including us, thought the Lightning would score on the powerplay as they boast a whopping 36% powerplay in the playoffs so far, but, the Canadiens strong 90% penalty kill held strong with the help of Nick Suzuki and Phillip Danault. The Canadiens were outplayed for most of the game and were outshot by a total of 34-21 in the victory. The habs strong point is clearly their grit and never say die attitude which is largely led by the aforementioned Danault. Los Angeles Dodgers Trevor Bauer Suspended Over Sexual Assault Allegations, Is His 2021 Season Over?
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball on Friday, three days after an allegation of assault was made by a woman against him The news couldn't have come at a worse time for Bauer who was likely set to make an All-Star Appearence after putting up impressive numbers so far this year. Instead, he will now deal with Pasadena Police in the coming weeks. The leave was imposed under the joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players’ union in 2015 and can be the initial step leading to a longer suspension. The administrative leave — during which a player is paid but cannot play — has been extended for players under the policy in the past. A protection order against Bauer was obtained under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act and was the result of an assault by him that left the woman who sought the order with “severe physical and emotional pain,” Marc Garelick, the woman’s attorney, said this week. Bauer was not with the Dodgers when the team met President Joe Biden at the White House earlier Friday to celebrate the World Series title they won last year. The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner had been scheduled to start Sunday against the Washington Nationals. “I still, and the Dodgers still, take the stand of we’re going to support whatever decision Major League Baseball makes,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. The protection order includes multiple graphic images from the woman who filed the request, according to The Athletic. The woman, in the 67-page ex-parte document, said Bauer assaulted her on two different occasions. Together, the woman said those two incidents included Bauer punching her in the face and body, sticking his fingers down her throat, and strangling her to the point where she lost consciousness multiple times, according to the document. The alleged assaults described by the woman happened during what she said began as consensual sexual encounters between the two. According to the woman’s declaration attached to the request and obtained by The Athletic, she suffered injuries as a result of the second encounter, including two black eyes, a bloodied swollen lip, significant bruising and scratching to one side of her face. Pasadena, California, police spokesman Lt. Bill Grisafe confirmed the department is looking into accusations of an assault involving Bauer, but provided no additional details. A hearing in Bauer’s case is scheduled for July 23. Jon Fetterolf, one of Bauer’s agents, has disputed the allegations. He said Bauer met the woman in April, and the two had “a brief and wholly consensual sexual relationship initiated” by the woman. “Her basis for filing a protection order is nonexistent, fraudulent, and deliberately omits key facts, information, and her own relevant communications,” Fetterolf said. Fetterolf said the woman asked Bauer repeatedly for “rough” sexual encounters, demanding to be “choked out” and slapped in the face. Bauer’s other agent, Rachel Luba, tweeted late Thursday: “I am privy to MUCH more information than what has been reported publicly at this time and am confident that the truth will come to light.” Bauer is a 30-year-old right-hander who joined his hometown Dodgers this year with a $102 million, three-year contract. He is 8-5 with a 2.59 ERA. Roberts was asked how Bauer’s teammates in the clubhouse handled the circumstances. Players penalized in the past under the domestic violence policy include Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias, Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman and pitcher Domingo German, Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell, Toronto pitcher Roberto Osuna, Colorado shortstop Jose Reyes and Atlanta outfielder Hector Olivera. Dodgers President Stan Kasten said he doesn’t think the process will “take long.” “I trust that process to get us where it needs to go,” he said. “Until that time, we’re just not going to have any more to say about it,” he said. In the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night Lebron James made history becoming the third player ever to reach 35,000 points scored in the NBA. Lebron scored point number 35,000 on a free throw against the Nets and had 17 points at halftime. He is averaging 25.7 points per game on the season so far. This number is important as if Lebron can continue to average near this number for 2 more full NBA seasons, he would pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA's all-time leading scorer. If James can pass Abdul Jabbar it would likely increase the validity of the argument that Lebron James is the greatest NBA player of all time. Next on the list to pass for Lebron is Karl Malone, who at this pace he will take over as of next NBA season.
