As we train for any running event that means anything to us, be it going for your first 5k or an ultra marathon - It's likely you've put a ton of energy, sacrifice, some cash, and maybe some blood into your preparation. The worst thing you can then do is sacrifice all of that hard work over months because you didn't consider what to do during the week of your race. I tell my runners that during this week you can't necessarily do anything to make you run the race any better but you certainly can make choices that will hinder your performance on race day. So today you'll learn some tips and tricks on how to have a good race week and what that may look like for you! Here's a rough example of what a race week run format may look like: M: Rest, yoga T: EZ45 minutes or so with 5 x 2:00 at marathon goal pace (moderate effort) W: Rest, Yoga Th: EZ3-4 miles with 3-4 x :30 strides F: Rest, Yoga Sat: RACE! or very easy 3 mile jog Sun: Race!
