Chelsea 2 - 0 Newcastle Match Review | Werner Finally Gets His Goal
To say that Timo Werner has struggled to score a goal for Chelsea FC in the last three months would be the understatement of the year. Man has he been starved for a goal. As a striker, this is bad business, not only for the team, but also for the confidence of the player. Under Lampard, Werner looked like another Morata - it ended before it really started. I liked Lampard by the way, so this is not a criticism of him in anyway. It's more a calling it like I see it. Anyway, since Tuchel has come in, Werner started looking brighter, better, more confident, and honestly, he's been knocking on the door of scoring for the last three games. Finally, he was able to sneak in a goal today (after missing a number of chances). I think every Chelsea fan watching that game celebrated with and for Werner. It was just our luck that the goal needed to be checked by VAR, but the moment it was given, Werner smiled like a little schoolboy and all of us Chelsea fans could breathe again. We loved it. The Chelsea vs Newcastle game wasn't too bad. Chelsea played an excellent, dominating first half that should have seen us with probably 4 goals as Newcastle didn't show up for the fight. However, our lack of finishing continues to plague us and will be an issue when it comes to playing the likes of Athletico and Man United. Tuchel definitely needs to sort this out on the training ground if we are to continue our upward trajectory on the PL table. Another issue Tuchel will have to work out is how to keep the better quality players on the bench happy. I suggest in this video that he makes sure to create a second successful system that works for them, and play the quality bench every now and then. Chelsea vs Aston Villa 1 - 1 Match Review | Why Was Werner Substituted In?
This is a Match Review of Chelsea 1 - 1 Aston Villa game at Stamford Bridge on December 28th 2020. Frank put out a new line up with a number of changes, yet this game was far from our best. According to Lampard, if we played this game a month ago, we would have won. But the Chelsea FC players are in poor form at the moment. We can chalk it up to tiredness or poor form or whatever, but we really do not like to see our football team in a rut. In yesterday's game, I felt that Giroud should have definitely played the entire game and I have no clue why Lampard subbed him off for Werner. The manager's weakness for playing Werner seems to be costing us points, in my opinion. If Werner is in poor form, and he is, he needs to be benched. Pulisic had a good game, but missed 1-2 chances that he just has to score. Unlucky for him. Callum Hudson-Odoi was definitely a bright spark in this game. Giroud has to start going forward. Just like he saved our 2019-2020 season, I think starting him will save this 2020-2021 season as well. Kante looked tired. Jorghino passes but doesn't really provide much to our team. Ben Chilwell looked bright. Rudiger put in a solid performance. Christensen staying down after a light foul was the reason Villa got back in the game. Pissed. That's how I feel about the Wolverhamptom vs. Chelsea game in the English Premier League. I can't believe #ChelseaFC bottled this game against #Wolves. I'm looking at their 2nd goal, both our CBs are jogging back, Zouma doesn't close Neto down; we totally gave wolves that game. I can't. How? Man our December #football is looking bleaker than ever.
