George VI's State Funeral took place #OnThisDay in 1952. This souvenir programme would have been used by mourners who watched the coffin process through London. The body was taken by train to Windsor, where it was laid to rest in St George's Chapel. #NationalFuneralMuseum

15 February 1952. King George VI was buried in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Huge crowds gathered to watch the solemn funeral procession through London, which began at 8 AM. And for the first time thousands more people witnessed the event on BBC television.
