Le match débute par un choc violent et fortuit entre Gaëtan Audoor et le défenseur namurois Amin Hadim. Hadim s’en tirera avec un bandage impressionnant à la tête tandis qu’Audoor finira par céder sa place à Dethier à la 27′. Est-cela qui a ralenti l’ardeur des joueurs ? Toujours est-il qu’on n’a pas vu grand chose en 1ère mi-temps. Rien du côté des Merles et quelques actions mal terminées pour le FC Liège : 6′ tête de Diallo à côté, 18′ tir d’Audoor sur une action Diallo/JSL, 23′ tête manquée de Diallo sur un centre de Vandebon, 43′ bon tir de Dethier et 45′ raid solitaire mal conclu par Diallo. En seconde mi-temps, Liège repart en force et dès la 48′ Guillaume récupère le ballon sur la gauche du rectangle et son tir est arrêté sur la ligne et de la main par Toumi : exclusion du défenseur, pénalty et panenka dans le plafond de Jean-Sébastien Legros (1-0). Le plus difficile est fait, d’autant plus qu’à la 54′, sur une belle transversale de Meunier, Diallo isole Guillaume qui fait 2-0. Namur aura sa 1ère occasion à la 57′ mais Liège a le match en main. A la 75′, après un débordement à gauche de Vandebon, Guillaume tire en force mais le gardien, d’un beau réflexe, dévie en coup de coin. Signe de la supériorité liégeoise, Pire interviendra pour la première fois à la 82′ et encore, il y avait hors jeu ! Et de neuf, donc ! Mercredi soir, match de retard à Couvin-Mariembourg.
