The NLEX Road Warriors is a professional basketball team owned by NLEX Corporation, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, currently playing in the Philippine Basketball Association since the 2014–2015 season. The Road Warriors began in the PBA Developmental League (PBA D-League) as one its founding teams, winning a total of six championships.
The NLEX Road Warriors was a basketball team that played in the PBA Developmental League from 2011 to 2014. It was one of the founding teams of the PBA D-League and was owned by Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
The NLEX Road Warriors first participated in the Philippine Basketball Association Draft on August 24, 2014, two month before their first PBA season. The Road Warriors bought the franchise of the Air21 Express in 2014.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association owned by Asian Coatings Philippines, Inc. It debuted in the league in the 2006–07 PBA season after acquiring the franchise rights of the Shell Turbo Chargers in 2006, which disbanded after the 2004–05 PBA season.
Prior to the draft, they were allowed to carry over three players from their PBL team: Jay-R Reyes, Junjun Cabatu and Jay Sagad. Furthermore, they also took part in an expansion draft in which they were able to select three players from the other PBA teams who were not protected by their clubs, acquiring Rob Wainwright, Gilbert Lao and Denver Lopez in the process.
