Zwycięstwem 34:30 nad Zagłębiem Lubin Corotop Gwardia Opole zakończyła tegoroczny sezon w Orlen Superlidze piłkarzy ręcznych przed własną publicznością. Już do przerwy widoczna była przewaga gwardzistów, którzy prowadzili 19:13. W środkowej fazie drugiej połowy ta przewaga wzrosła nawet do 9. trafień (26:17 i 28:19). Niestety końcówka okazała się nerwowa bowiem walczący o utrzymanie na najwyższym szczeblu rozgrywkowym szczypiorniści z Lubina na 3 minuty przed końcem zniwelowali straty do dwóch trafień i przegrywali tylko 29:31. Na szczęście finał okazał się pomyślny dla ekipa Bartosza Jureckiego, która zasłużenie wygrała i mogła się pożegnać ze swoją publicznością. Cały sezon zakończą pojedynkiem 10 maja w Legionowie z tamtejszym KPR-em.
