In this episode of Kutti Stories with Ash, R. Ashwin sits down with Karun Nair, the man who once tweeted, "Dear cricket, give me one more chance." After scoring a historic Test triple century for India, Karun was unexpectedly dropped. From there began a rollercoaster journey—fighting through setbacks, losing his place in Karnataka’s domestic side, moving to Vidarbha, grinding through the system, scoring truckloads of runs, and winning the Ranji Trophy. Now, after seven long years, he’s back on the brink of a remarkable Test comeback, earning a place in India’s squad for the England tour. This is a raw, inspiring, and emotional conversation that traces Karun Nair’s journey through rejection, resilience, and redemption. A must-watch for every cricket lover. INDIA VS ENGLAND: Captain Rohit Sharma's much-anticipated return to one-day internationals ended in disappointment, but India ticked plenty of right boxes in the first match of a three-match ODI series against England on Thursday, 6 February. Shubman Gill's well-paced 87, Shreyas Iyer's stroke-filled 59, and an all-round bowling effort led by Ravindra Jadeja and debutant Harshit Rana were amongst the many positives for India at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. India vice-captain Shubman Gill made a strong statement with an incredible knock of 87 as he batted in Virat Kohli's spot during the Nagpur ODI against England. Gill was asked to come in at the No.3 spot after Kohli missed the match due to a right knee issue before the game. Yashasvi Jaiswal was given the chance to open the batting with Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. #postmatchwithsportstak #indiavsengland #cricket #shubmangill #shreyasiyer #rohitsharma #axarpatel #klrahul #harshitrana #jadeja Buy Rajnigandha Products online - https://rajnigandha.com/ Shop now - https://rajnigandha.com/ Visit https://thesportstak.com for lightning-fast live scores, special updates, highlights, and specific statistics of players and teams. The umpires draw the bails as stumps have been called on day 1 of the series opener at Nagpur. Team India have one hand on the contest as they first dismissed the Australians for a paltry 177 taking a little over 2 sessions and now have scored 77 runs for the loss of just 1 wicket trailing by 100 runs. KL Rahul was the only casualty as he was dismissed in the dying moments of the day by debutant Todd Murphy. Mohammed Siraj and Shami with the early strikes followed by a five-wicket haul from Ravindra Jadeja and 3 wickets from R Ashwin who became the second Indian to claim 450 Test wickets were helpful in bundling the visitors after India lost the toss early in the day. The Australian openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja scored just 1 run each and departed in the space of 6 balls. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith the number 1 and 2 batters in the ICC Test rankings then put up a solid partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket only to be broken by Ravindra Jadeja who was well assisted by KS Bharat on debut. There were a couple of missed chances when Kohli failed to stick to a chance off Steve Smith's bat but it didn't cost the team too much as the former skipper soon departed for 37. Labuschagne was the top scorer with 49 runs. Alex Carey looked in good touch hitting 36 off just 33 balls adding 53 runs with Peter Handscomb who tried to hold the fort scoring 31 in 84 deliveries becoming the 9th Australian wicket to fall. There were 15 extras as not more than 4 visiting batters managed to score into double figures. Jadeja struck straightaway in his comeback Test. Rohit Sharma started with three boundaries in the first over bowled by his opposite number Pat Cummins and provided a good start to the team doing the bulk of the scoring getting to his 15th half-century in Test cricket. He is joined by Ravichandran Ashwin batting and is yet to get off the mark. Debutant Todd Murphy got Australia the only breakthrough taking a good return catch after the openers added 76 runs. Ravindra Jadeja (22-8-47-5): "The way I was bowling I was enjoying. Playing Test cricket after five months you know it is hard. I played First Class game after some time. I bowled 45 overs there and it helped me to come here and bowl. I looked to bowl into the stumps. I was looking to target the stumps. One ball was spinning and the odd ball was going straight. Yeah always I give credit to the ball but the interesting thing is whatever you take to be happy with that. I was in the NCA bowling 10-12 hours every day. Especially I was working on my rhythm. I think if you play after five months you need to be positive. I was not thinking about my injury but was trying to perform. I was looking to grab that opportunity." 1st Test Day 1 Match Summary Session by Session in Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium Nagpur Maharashtra Session Breakdown (1st Test Day 1): Session-1: 32 overs 76 runs - 2 wickets - Session-2: 28 overs 98 runs - 6 wickets - Session-3: 27.5 overs 80 runs - 3 wickets. As we take the name of the two teams ardent cricket fans are taken back to the famous incident of the last time these two teams met in red ball cricket. India breached the Gabba fortress and retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy courtesy of some gutsy show by an Indian team that was plagued with injury in the tour. Let us look at the head-to-head stats of the two teams. These two teams have played 27 Test series against each other and Australia have been ahead in this competition. Head-to-Head (Overall Series): Total series: 27 - India won: 10 - Australia won: 12 - Drawn series: 5. If we talk about the Test matches that these two teams have played Australia have a clear dominance. Head-to-Head (Overall Matches): Total Matches: 102 - India won: 30 - Australia won: 43 - Draws: 28 - Tied: 1. In case of their clashes on Indian soil India has been the dominant side. Head-to-Head (On Indian Soil): Total Matches: 50 - India won: 21 - Australia won: 13 - Draws: 15 - Tied: 1 As per as the reports are concerned the pitch will be turning from the very first day. So the key players to watch out for will be Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. On the other hand the Indian batting will depend a lot on Virat Kohli as he has a great record at this venue. Besides this there are batters like Pujara Rohit Sharma and Srikar Bharat on whom the batting line-up of India will depend a lot. The Australian bowling also looks good with the likes of Scott Boland Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins. The match has one more angle of the WTC Final. The team winning the series will be making it to the finals of the WTC. So none of the teams will be conceding ground to the opposition and it promises to be a very exciting clash. Team News India: There have been a few question marks leading up to finalizing the eleven for India with the primary one turning out to be that of the No. 5 spot left vacant by the injured Shreyas Iyer. The contenders for the spot include the in-form Shubman Gill who has previously been looked at as just an opener by the national side. The other is Suryakumar Yadav whose attacking instincts in white-ball cricket at the international level could force India to take a punt in the absence of Rishabh Pant's aggressive methods in the middle order. The other two spots up for discussion include that of the wicket-keeper with KS Bharat likely to get the nod ahead of Ishan Kishan as should Axar Patel for the third spinner's spot. Team News Australia: There are a number of reasons for Australia to try and avoid stacking up too many left-handers in their playing eleven. While four in the top seven are a shoo-in they could avoid adding a fifth to the mix by picking Peter Handscomb over Matt Renshaw. What to expect: As per on-ground reports the pitch is being prepared to aid turn unsurprisingly. So both teams would be shaping their sides in a bid to exploit and counter the challenges it could offer. Pitch and conditions Spin-friendly & a clear threat to left-handers. Nagpur weather is usually hot and dry. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content.
