The team is due to begin play in Major League Soccer in 2020, with its permanent home stadium opening a season or two later pending final decisions about financing and location.The ownership group, formed in 2013 as Miami Beckham United, now works through Miami Freedom Park LLC. The group is led by David Beckham, and Miami-based Bolivian businessman Marcelo Claure, while Masayoshi Son and brothers Jorge and Jose Mas were added to the ownership group in 2017.

Inter Miami CF Stadium is a soccer stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida built on the site of the former Lockhart Stadium. The 18,000-seat stadium is the temporary home of Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer until the completion of Miami Freedom Park in Miami and the permanent home of the club's USL League One reserve side Fort Lauderdale CF. The stadium is oriented north–south for soccer configuration, so the sun is not in the eyes of the goalkeepers.

The Miami Freedom Park is a proposed 25,000 seat soccer-specific stadium to be built in Miami, Florida for Inter Miami CF. While the location of the stadium is yet to be finalized, the team's ownership group led by David Beckham has expressed a desire to build on the Miami waterfront; other locations elsewhere in Miami have been offered as fallbacks. Shortly after the team was announced in March 2014, the group presented a plan to build a 25,000-seat stadium at PortMiami, but opposition from port businesses led to the May 2014 announcement of a second location, on a reclaimed land at Museum Park, with a reduced capacity of 20,000, but that site was also rejected by the city of Miami.
