Subak was included in the 2019 Preliminary List of Candidates for National Intangible Cultural Heritage designation by the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea. In 2018, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea announced the officially recognized traditional martial arts transmission categories under the Traditional Martial Arts Promotion Act: Subak,Ssireum,Traditional Archery,Taekkyeon We introduce various activities related to the preservation of historical video materials, movement documentation, traditional training methods, genealogical research, and disappearing embodied knowledge associated with Korean martial arts heritage. We engage in a wide range of activities, including cultural heritage preservation, education and promotion, online seminars, archive research, cultural heritage education, and participation in international discussions regarding cultural sustainability and international NGO networks.
