Sebuah tim mahasiswa dari University of Toronto berhasil menciptakan helikopter bertenaga manusia bernama Atlas. Proyek ini dibuat untuk memenangkan Sikorsky Prize senilai $250.000 atau sekitar 4,3 miliar rupiah. Helikopter ini sepenuhnya digerakkan oleh kayuhan pedal tanpa mesin. Pada tahun 2013, Atlas berhasil terbang selama 64 detik dan mencapai ketinggian sekitar 3,3 meter, memenuhi semua syarat kompetisi. Pencapaian ini menjadi terobosan besar dalam dunia teknik, karena menunjukkan bahwa penerbangan vertikal dengan tenaga manusia benar-benar mungkin dilakukan.
