Knights' Brett Brochu Named OHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, Ont. - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that London Knights netminder Brett Brochu is the OHL Goaltender of the Week with three wins, a 2.55 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. Brochu helped the Knights improve to a League-best 5-0 record with back-to-back wins over the Windsor Spitfires before edging the Sarnia Sting in a shootout on Saturday. He turned aside 35 of the 38 shots he faced in a 4-3 Thanksgiving Monday shootout road win over the Spitfires, stopping seven of eight Windsor shootout attempts. Brochu was up to the task on Friday when the Knights played host to the Spitfires, making 32 saves in a 5-1 win while drawing an assist on Max McCue's first goal of the season. He wrapped up the weekend making 29 saves in a 5-4 overtime road win over the Sarnia Sting, none bigger than a game-saving overtime denial that led to a Sean McGurn game winner in transition. A 19-year-old from Tilbury, Ont., Brochu leads OHL netminders with five wins on the season while posting a 2.49 goals-against average and .922 save percentage. He's won 14 consecutive regular season games dating back to Feb. 14, 2020, part of a stretch in which he's won 27 of 28 decisions since Dec. 29, 2019. The 6-foot, 176Ib. Brochu was a member of the OHL's first all-rookie team during the 2019-20 season, leading the League with a 2.40 goals-against average to win the F.W. Dinty Moore Trophy. His 32 wins that season set a new Knights franchise record for rookie goaltenders. The former sixth round (114th overall) pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection made his professional debut with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2020-21, appearing in one game on May 16, 2021. Also meriting consideration for the award this week was Ottawa Senators prospect Leevi Merilainen of the Kingston Frontenacs who played to a 2-0 mark while recording a 2.50 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. PSK LIONS vs Gladiators Trier (Last Dance Löwenkäfig)
RUDEL VERABSCHIEDET SICH VON DER EUROPAHALLE LIONS-Niederlage beim letzten Auftritt in der Europahalle – Spiel am Mittwoch gegen Hagen Corona-bedingt abgesagt Im Saisonendspurt der BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA kassierten die PS Karlsruhe LIONS am 5. April eine unnötige und verdiente Niederlage. In einer von vielen Fouls, zahlreichen Unterbrechungen und zähem Spielfluss geprägten Partie lautete das Endergebnis gegen die Römerstrom Gladiators Trierr 94:105. Es war das Nachholspiel des 21. Spieltags, das Corona-bedingt erst jetzt ausgetragen werden konnte. Am kommenden Mittwoch stand ursprünglich ebenfalls ein Nachholspiel für die LIONS auf dem Programm. Doch bei den Gästen von Phoenix Hagen gibt es eine bestätigte Corona-Infektion im Umfeld der Mannschaft. Das teilten die Feuervögel am Ostermontag auf ihren Kanälen mit. Für diesen Fall ist eine 14-tägige Quarantäne des gesamten Teams vorgesehen. Folglich kann die Begegnung nicht stattfinden. Damit stellt das verlorene Duell gegen die Gladiators gleichzeitig auch den vorläufigen Schlusspunkt einer langen Basketball-Tradition in der Karlsruher Europahalle dar. Denn aufgrund lange geplanter und im Mai beginnender Sanierungsarbeiten ziehen die LIONS für die kommenden Spielzeiten um und empfangen ihre Gegner künftig in der neu errichteten Halle bei der Elisabeth-Selbert-Schule. Diese liegt in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zur Europahalle und bietet 1.500 Zuschauern Platz – sofern die Spiele ab Herbst wieder vor Publikum ausgetragen werden können. Zum Abschied sah die Europahalle ein lange spannendes aber kaum hochklassiges Spiel zweier Teams, die sich zunächst weitgehend neutralisierten. Auf beiden Seiten fehlte es in der Anfangsphase an der notwendigen Präzision, um deutliche Zeichen zu setzen. Nachdem die Gladiators über das gesamte erste Viertel hinweg knapp in Front lagen, holten sich die LIONS Sekunden vor der Pause erstmals an diesem Abend die Führung. Mit 22:21 ging es in den nächsten Spielabschnitt. Danke einer zunächst guten Dreierquote hielt Karlsruhe einen knappen Vorsprung. Aber vor allem in der Defense waren die Probleme der erst vor wenigen Tagen aus der Quarantäne zurückgekehrten Gastgeber deutlich sichtbar. Damit einher ging eine hohe Foulbelastung – ein Umstand, der den Gästen immer wieder Chancen von der Freiwurflinie eröffnete. Die Partie war zerfahren, aber trotzdem spannend, da sich die Kontrahenten zumindest in der ersten Hälfte auf Augenhöhe begegneten und das Spiel stets eng war. Kurz vor der Halbzeit konnten aber die Gladiators Kapital aus ihrem besser funktionierenden Umschaltspiel schlagen. So ging es mit 45:49 und leichten Vorteilen für die Gäste in die Kabinen. Zurück auf dem Parkett erwischten die LIONS einen ungünstigen Start in den dritten Spielabschnitt. Die Trefferquoten der Hausherren gingen zurück und in Minute 24 hatte Trier erstmals einen zweistelligen Vorsprung herausgespielt. In dieser Phase verlor Karlsruhe auch seinen einzigen derzeit verfügbaren Center. Maurice Pluskota musste mit fünf persönlichen Fouls das Feld verlassen. Das Löwenrudel gab sich nicht geschlagen, meisterte die folgenden schwierigen Minuten gut und rückte wieder bis auf vier Punkte an die Gladiators heran. Mit ihrer schwachen Verteidigung und unnötigen Fouls machten sich die LIONS aber selbst das Leben schwer und ließen den Gegner wieder davonziehen. Mit 69:80 ging es in die letzten zehn Minuten, die nochmals von vielen Unterbrechungen geprägt waren. Der Spielfluss kam zeitweise fast vollständig zum Erliegen, wovon die Gäste profitierten. Trier hielt den Vorsprung konstant und geriet nicht mehr in Bedrängnis. Nach der fünften Niederlage in Folge liegen die LIONS weiterhin auf Platz elf. Tyseem Lyles belohnte sich gegen Trier mit 22 Punkten für eine seiner besten Saisonleistungen. KC Ross-Miller (21 Punkte), Kavin Gilder-Tilbury (19) und Gregory Foster (12) scorten ebenfalls zweistellig. Auch wenn die PlayOff-Ränge spätestens mit der vor kurzem beendeten Quarantäne und den dadurch verpassten Spielen außer Reichweite gerückt sind, sind die LIONS motiviert, am kommenden Samstag zum Saisonabschluss nochmals alles zu geben. Am 10. April geht es zu den VfL Kirchheim Knights. Die Gastgeber werden ebenfalls mit Ambitionen in das schwäbisch-badische Duell starten, denn sie kämpfen noch um eine möglichst gute Ausgangsposition für die PlayOffs. LIONS BEZWINGEN DIE GREIFVÖGEL 💙 LIONS machen es spannend – Einsatzbereitschaft und Treffsicherheit führen zum Sieg gegen Falcons Im Nachholspiel des 15. Spieltags der BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA feierten die PS Karlsruhe LIONS einen Erfolg gegen die Nürnberg Falcons BC. Das Endergebnis am 27. Februar in der Karlsruher Europahalle lautete 90:83. Mit nun neun Siegen aus 18 Spielen bleiben die Badener auf Tuchfühlung zu den PlayOff-Rängen. Die Falcons, mit dem Sieg am vergangenen Mittwoch gegen Paderborn im Rücken, starteten selbstbewusst in die Begegnung und setzten die Hausherren mit schnell vorgetragenen Angriffen unter Druck. Die LIONS hielten ihrerseits dagegen und übernahmen nach vier Minuten erstmals die Führung. Es entwickelte sich eine interessante und zunächst sehr ausgeglichene Partie. Auffällig war von Beginn an die starke Dreierquote des Löwenrudels, die am Ende bei 45 % gegenüber 25 % auf Nürnberger Seite lag. Von der Freiwurflinie zeigte sich Karlsruhe an diesem Abend hingegen weniger treffsicher. Lediglich 22 der 30 Versuche fanden ihren Weg durch den Korb der Falcons. Mit 21:23 ging es in die erste Pause, aus der die Gäste mit Problemen zurückkamen, denn bei Nürnberg kam es nun vermehrt zu Fehlern und unglücklichen Sequenzen. Mehrere Unterbrechungen ließen den Spielfluss stocken. Von der Zerfahrenheit der Begegnung profitierten die LIONS, die konzentriert blieben und ihre Chancen gut verwerteten. Mit einem 13:3-Run gelang es den Gastgebern sogar, sich bis zum Stand von 34:26 etwas abzusetzen. Doch die Falcons fingen sich wieder, was der Attraktivität des Spiels zugutekam. Es ging nun hin und her. Die Gäste agierten zwar wieder auf Augenhöhe mit den Hausherren, fanden jedoch kaum Mittel gegen die starken Karlsruher Distanzschützen, allen voran Daniel Norl, der im Verlauf der Begegnung sieben seiner acht Versuche von der Dreierlinie verwandelte. So wuchs der LIONS-Vorsprung bis auf 49:40 zur Halbzeit. Nach Wiederbeginn setzte sich die allgemeine Entwicklung zunächst fort, bis beim 57:44 nach 23 Minuten die höchste Karlsruher Führung des Abends erreicht war. Doch Nürnberg stabilisierte sich wieder, zeigte Kampfgeist und arbeitete sich bis zu Beginn des Schlussviertels auf 69:65 an das Löwenrudel heran. Die LIONS eröffneten die abschließenden zehn Minuten mit einem Dreier durch Norl, verpassten es aber danach, den Widerstand der Falcons endgültig zu brechen. In der Schlussphase schenkten sich die beiden Teams nichts und zwei Minuten vor Spielende waren die Gäste beim 81:78 in Schlagdistanz. Doch auch diesmal waren es zwei Dreier zum richtigen Zeitpunkt, die den LIONS die nötige Luft verschafften. Die Crunchtime blieb spannend, ohne dem Spiel noch eine unerwartete Wendung zu verleihen. Der 90:83-Erfolg Karlsruhes war hart erkämpft, aber verdient. Neben den bereits erwähnten guten Trefferquoten aus der Distanz war es die insgesamt gute Ballbehandlung, die den Weg zum Sieg ebnete. Die LIONS leisteten sich lediglich neun Turnover, was im Saisonvergleich einen guten Wert für das Team darstellt. Topscorer der Partie war Daniel Norl mit 26 Punkten für Karlsruhe. Maurice Pluskota (12), KC Ross-Miller sowie Kavin Gilder-Tilbury (je 11) scorten ebenfalls zweistellig. Am kommenden Wochenende erwarten die LIONS gleich zwei Herausforderungen. Am 5. Juwon Akintunde equalises for the Ducks from the penalty spot, after Ty Deacon is chopped down by the Tilbury defender in the Buildbase FA Trophy Second Round Qualifying match. The match was drawn 2-2 after normal time, with Aylesbury united winning a dramatic penalty shoot-out 4-2 on Saturday 17 October 2020 at The Meadow, Chesham.

Stansted is a village and rural parish in the Tonbridge and Malling district of the county of Kent in the United Kingdom (not to be confused with Stansted Mountfitchet or London Stansted Airport, both of which are in Essex). It is located close to the M20 motorway.

The Stansted Airport Track Transit System is a fully automated people mover system which operates within London Stansted Airport in the United Kingdom.The transit system conveys air passengers between the main airport terminal and the departure/arrival gates, which are located some distance from the main terminal in satellite buildings. The system operates exclusively "airside", meaning that it can only by accessed by passengers who have first passed through airport security.

Stansted 15
The Stansted 15 are a group of non-violent human rights activists who took action to stop a deportation flight leaving from Stansted Airport, UK on 28 March 2018. The plane, a Titan Airways Boeing 767 was chartered by the UK Home Office to deport 60 migrants to Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.The group were arrested, endured a ten week trial and later prosecuted in December 2018 under the 1990 Aviation and Maritime Security Act and convicted of terrorism related charges.

Tilbury Fort
Tilbury Fort, also known historically as the Thermitage Bulwark and the West Tilbury Blockhouse, is an artillery fort on the north bank of the River Thames in England. The earliest version of the fort, comprising a small blockhouse with artillery covering the river, was constructed by King Henry VIII to protect London against attack from France as part of his Device programme.
