Ternyata, dia bukanlah pelari atau atlet, tetapi karena punya orang dalam, yaitu ketua Federasi Atletik Somalia, dia dipilih alih-alih atlet beneran. akhirnya, ketua federasi tersebut dihukum skors dan menghadapi hukuman atas pencemaran nama baik Somalia di arena internasional.
