They compete in the Principality Premiership, which they won for four consecutive seasons between 2012 and 2015, and the WRU National Cup which they have won on 6 occasions with the most recent being in 2014.

In 1991 Pontypridd Sports & Social Club joined forces with Ynysybwl FC who were both struggling clubs and moved to Ynysangharad Park in Pontypridd in the year 1991 when they were helped by local businessman Clayton Jones.It was decided in their second season at the Park that they should be called Pontypridd Town AFC and as the Dragons.. The club have been members of the[Welsh Football League since 1992 and the Football Association of Wales.
