History of A.S. Roma

The history of Associazione Sportiva Roma begins with its founding on 7 June 1927 by Italo Foschi, who initiated the merger of three older Italian Football Championship clubs from the city of Rome; Roman, Alba-Audace and Fortitudo. Italo Foschi was Roman representative of the National Fascist Party and Secretary of the Roman Fascist Federation.The purpose of the merger was to give the Eternal City a strong club to rival that of the more dominant Northern Italian clubs of the time.

2007–08 A.S. Roma season

During the 2007–08 season Associazione Sportiva Roma played the 75th Serie A season in its history. As in the previous season, Roma finished in second place in Serie A behind Internazionale, but had the chance to win the Championship until the last match.

2006–07 A.S. Roma season

During the 2006–07 football season, Associazione Sportiva Roma played its 74th Serie A league season, finishing 2nd. The club also competed in the UEFA Champions League, finishing as quarter-finalists, and the Coppa Italia, winning the trophy for the eighth time.

2008–09 A.S. Roma season

The 2008–09 season was Associazione Sportiva Roma's 76th season in Serie A. The club competed in four competitions; domestically, Roma finished a disappointing 6th, after three consecutive second-place finishes. They began the season by losing the Supercoppa Italiana to Inter, who also eliminated Roma in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.

2009–10 A.S. Roma season

The 2009–10 season was Associazione Sportiva Roma's 77th season in Serie A. The club competed in Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Europa League. Roma finished second in Serie A with 80 points, two points behind Inter.

A.S. Roma in European football

These are the matches that Roma have played in European football competitions. The club's first entry into European football was the 1958–60 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, with their first official entry in the 1969–70 European Cup Winners' Cup.

Roma's Hall of Fame has been launched in 2012 as part of the initiatives for the club's 85th anniversary.Exceptionally for the starting 2012 Class, eleven players were chosen through an on-line voting process from an initial list of 55 retired players, composed by one goalkeeper , one right-back (Cafu), two central defenders (Giacomo Losi and Aldair), one left-back (Francesco Rocca), two midfielders (Fulvio Bernardini and Agostino Di Bartolomei), one playmaker (Paulo Roberto Falcão), and three strikers (Bruno Conti, Roberto Pruzzo and Amedeo Amadei).In the following years, the number of players elected has been intentionally reduced.In 2017, following the retirement of Roma legend Francesco Totti, no players but him were included into the list.
