Così ho deciso di fare una cosa semplice solo in apparenza: entrare allo stadio con largo anticipo e osservare tutto, minuto per minuto, per capire se il calcio rispetta davvero l’orologio. Sono entrato sugli spalti 45 minuti prima del calcio d’inizio. Il campo era completamente vuoto. Nessun giocatore, nessun rumore, solo l’erba perfetta sotto i riflettori e una sensazione strana: lo stadio c’era, ma la partita no. Sembrava tutto sospeso. A 35 minuti dal fischio iniziale succede la prima cosa: la squadra di casa scende in campo per il riscaldamento. Qualche allungo, i primi palloni che rotolano, il pubblico che inizia lentamente a riempire gli spalti. Tre minuti dopo entra anche la squadra ospite. Le curve cominciano a farsi sentire, i cori aumentano, l’atmosfera cambia completamente. Arriviamo a 17 minuti dall’inizio e, all’improvviso, entrambe le squadre rientrano negli spogliatoi. Il campo torna vuoto. È in quel momento che ne approfitto per mangiare qualcosa, guardandomi intorno e continuando a tenere d’occhio il tempo. Tutto sembra procedere come da copione. A 7 minuti dal fischio d’inizio la Lega sistema il pre-partita: grafiche, allineamenti, cerimoniale. A 2 minuti dall’orario ufficiale, finalmente, le squadre scendono in campo… ma sono ancora con la tuta da riscaldamento. Nessuna formazione schierata, nessun segnale che si stia davvero per partire. E poi succede qualcosa che cambia tutto. Poco prima delle 18:00, i tifosi iniziano a generare il caos. Fumogeni, cori sempre più forti, fumo che invade lo stadio. La visibilità si abbassa, l’atmosfera diventa irreale. Il campo viene completamente annebbbiato. L’arbitro non può dare il via alla partita. Il tempo passa. Cinque minuti. Dieci minuti. Quindici minuti. La partita che doveva iniziare alle 20:45 inizia con 15 minuti di ritardo. Non per la televisione, non per la squadra, non per l’organizzazione. Ma per colpa dei tifosi. Alla fine ho avuto la risposta che cercavo. Le partite non iniziano sempre in orario. E a volte, nel calcio, non comanda l’orologio. Comanda il caos.
