Dodgers At Nationals Game Recap 7/27/19 - Will Smith Drives In 6 And Kershaw Strikes Out 9 In Win
Dodgers pick up their 69th win of the season thanks to Will Smith and Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw gave up two runs in the 1st inning, but after he settled in, he threw five shutout innings striking out nine and only giving up one more hit. Smith made his return to the big league club and went deep in his first at-bat and had two doubles on the day driving in a total of six runs. Dodgers Win In Extras Thanks To Some Late Offense Before Heading To Philadelphia
Ryu pitched yet another great game but unfortunately Baez struggled on the mound giving up back-to-back home runs to take the game into extra innings. Before extra innings Pollock was the only one to drive in runs for the Dodgers. Once they got to the 12th inning they all started to contribute sealing the win for the team. Kelly closed it out and got his first save as a Dodger. Kershaw will be on the mound Monday night against the Phillies. The Dodgers looked like themselves against Chris Sale Saturday night scoring early and often. They scored all game long with everyone contributing at the plate. The Dodgers didn’t look like themselves at all tonight after the offense couldn’t score with multiple men in scoring position and the bullpen collapsing once again. Ryu was about the only highlight from tonight’s game just absolutely dominating. He threw six innings and only gave up one hit. They had a 3-1 lead until the 7th inning. Dodgers came into feeling good after sweeping the Pirates and having Kershaw on the mound tonight. Kershaw has an off outing but got out of it only giving up three runs. Bellinger has a huge day with a home run and throwing out two runners to save a run each time. The bullpen continues to struggle but Jansen looked good tonight out of the pen. Dodgers at Rays Game Recap 5/21/19 - Dodgers Win In Kershaw’s First Ever Start At Tropicana Field
*Update on Baez: x-rays came back negative. Will not pitch tomorrow but not expected to miss much time.* Dodgers started their two game series in Tampa Bay with Kershaw on the mound tonight. Kershaw came out and dominated through his entire performance until giving up back-to-back hits in the 7th. The bullpen was a little shaky but they were able to get out of the inning without too much damage. Verdugo made an incredible throw to get the leadoff guy trying to take third in the 8th inning. Offense was provided by everyone in the lineup tonight and we couldn’t have asked for a better game from them. Hill will pitch tomorrow and try to give the team their second two game series sweep on the season.
