‘Sports News’: Eastbourne Borough 6 v 0 AFC Uckfield Town - Susses Senior Cup
Here is a report on the Sussex Senior Cup match between Eastbourne Borough and AFC Uckfield Town. After a disappointing result against Poole Town in the Vanarama National League, South, the ‘Sports’ were swiftly back in action: this time in the Sussex Senior Cup against AFC Uckfield Town. When it comes to the cup it’s eleven men against eleven. So even though Eastbourne were well favourites on paper, a job still had to be done as the 'Oakmen' were hoping to cash in on any hangover from the Poole match to cause a cup shock! As it turned out, Eastbourne finished comfortable winners, with a couple of great goals amongst the six they scored. But credit to Uckfield as they never let their heads drop and tried to play football to the end instead of collapsing and allowing the ‘Sports’ to pile-up a cricket score. OK, it could have been a better result for the Borough, but they did have much of the play. Unfortunately they couldn't convert that into goals this time. Despite some decent performances lately, the ‘Sports’ had not picked up as many wins as their play deserved. The Sports took on Hemel Hempstead for their first senior cup match on the 3G artificial pitch and ran out worthy winners, thanks to an Elliott Romain Hat-trick! Re-live the goals and some of the highlights as the Borough hit the ground running for the 2016-2017 season! This presentation also includes the post match interview with Tommy Widdrington, which was uploaded previously. As this game is the first league match on 3G at Priory Lane and marks the start of Eastbourne Borough's second fifty years, we thought we'd make a little more fuss over our report and changed the format slightly.
