Epic 211-shot badminton rally delights fans in Malaysia
The world No 11 Thinaah Muralitharan and Pearly Tan survived a 211-shot marathon rally in their round-of-16 encounter against Japan's Rena Miyaura and Ayako Sakuramoto at the BWF Malaysia Masters. The home pair were leading Miyaura and Sakuramoto in the final set of the match when the rally began. More than three minutes later, after a jaw-dropping showcase of athleticism and perseverance, Tan produced a well-disguised drop shot, which Sakuramoto could not reach, to seal the point, bringing an incredulous crowd to their feet. Cameron Norrie smashes ball into Novak Djokovic's legs as world No 1 turns back on net
Novak Djokovic was in command from the start and never really let up in beating the 13th-seeded Cameron Norrie 6-3, 6-4 to reach the Italian Open quarter-finals for the 17th straight year. But early in the second set, Djokovic had already turned his back to the net to concede a break point when an overhead smash by Norrie hit him in the body. Just Stop Oil protesters invade World Snooker Championship arena
Just Stop Oil protesters disrupted the evening session at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield. Footage showed a man interrupting the match between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry by jumping on the table, where he emptied a packet of orange powder. A female protester was prevented from disrupting the match between Mark Allen and Fan Zhengyi on table two by the quick-thinking response of the referee, Olivier Marteel. On Twitter, Just Stop Oil said it was 'demanding that the government immediately stop all new UK fossil fuel projects and calling on UK sporting institutions to step into in civil resistance against the government’s genocidal policies'. The moment Matt Walls crashes over barrier and into crowd at Commonwealth games
England’s Matt Walls catapulted over the railings and into the crowd in the latest incident to plague the cycling events at the Commonwealth Games. Somehow, the 24-year-old avoided major injuries in the crash and was discharged from hospital by the evening with little more than bumps and bruises.
