Another back-breaking stage in Asturias.. There may be fewer climbs than yesterday, but the final one - Les Praeres Nava (3.7km at 13.4%) - is a brute and perhaps the toughest summit finish of the race so far. Stage 7 sees the peloton tackle an interesting route between Camargo and Cistierna that - save for a large Cat-1 climb in the middle of the stage - poses no real challenges. At 21.8km in length with an average gradient of 5.4%, the Puerto de San Glorio is too tough for most of the fast men, but with it falling over 60km from the finish, how will this stage play out? Stage 6 headsout of the basque country and into Cantabria for the first summit finish of the race. There are two climbs before the long drag up to the finish line atop Pico Jano, but both pale in comparison to this Cantabrian challenge which extends for 12.6km at an average gradient of 6.5%.
