Marcus Rashford WINS IT! & Antony Debut Goal! Manchester United 3-1 Arsenal Review
My live review of Manchester United 3-1 Arsenal in the Premier League as Marcus Rashford scores two and Antony makes his debut and scores! Erik ten-Hag and Mikel Arteta went head to head at Old Trafford and United came out on top! Let me know what you think of the game in the comments... Martinelli thought he’d put Arsenal 0-1 up in the 11th minute with a swift counter but the goal was disallowed after a VAR check as Odegaard obviously fouled Eriksen in the buildup. Antony put Man United 1-0 up in the 34th minute, scoring on his debut at Old Trafford with a clean left foot finish after a great move! Assisted by Marcus Rashford, Antony’s celebration was great to see! Saka scored in the 59th minute to equalise, but Marcus Rashford made it 2-1 in the 65th minute with a brilliant end to end three pass move and finish! Rashford added another in the 74th minute to make it 3-1 after another clinical break and a great Christian Eriksen assist! Arsenal have won their last 6 matches (Premier League). Arsenal have scored at least 2 goals in their last 6 matches (Premier League). Man Utd are undefeated in 17 of their last 19 home matches against Arsenal in all competitions. When he has all his players available, Arteta generally plays 4-2-3-1, a formation where they aim to be more structured and regimented out of possession than they've been in years past. When going forward full throttle, Arsenal's formation can end up looking like a 2-4-4; even though a 2-2-4 does sound like an aggressive attacking shape, but it can also offer defensive stability in central zones to recover possession and recover from errors. Even when Arsenal became exposed in the wider areas, the likes of Thomas Partey (injured), Xhaka or Lokonga would shuffle across to retain some degree of balance as others regain their position. Arsenal looks to create overloads in wider areas where they played small passing combinations before switching it to the isolated flank, while whoever is playing defensive midfield is positioned to stop opposition counter-attacks by sitting in, allowing the full-backs to be more adventurous going forward. They like to get inside full-backs, narrow in and around the box with little slide rule passes down the sides where they can hurt you with pullbacks or low crosses fired across. Defensively they are high pressing, setting up high and aggressive on opponents' goal kicks, going man to man to force teams to go long and take their chances recovering the second ball.
