The NBA has had so many great players play for so many great teams over the years, Who is the greatest team of all-time? You don’t need to know what sport the question is in reference to, it will always be a raging debate among fans in every sport. The argument over which team is the best team in the history of a given sport is not going anywhere and it is just further fueled each year when new teams rise to the top and become the next big thing. But when it comes to basketball, it’s a much deeper debate than simply being about the greatest team ever. You can dig beyond that and pick out the best lineup ever, as all you need to do is pick five players from throughout the history of your favorite team. So just what combination of players does make up the best lineup for a given team? In the video below is my opinion of the best starting five and 6th man for the Southwest Division which includes the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Memphis Grizzlies. Prior to the 2011-12 season, the Clippers posted just six winning seasons in 42 years of existence, forever the forgotten little brother to the dynastic Los Angeles Lakers. In 2000, Sports Illustrated named the Clippers the “losingest” team in sports history. 2011-12 Los Angeles Clippers: Lob City [#13] That changed in 2011, when the team made the trade for All-Star point guard Chris Paul. Paired with young bigs in Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, the team suddenly had a bright future ahead of it. Indeed, the success began immediately, with the team notching its first winning season since 2006 and only its second since 1992. Paul and Griffin were both named to the NBA All-Star Game, the first time Clippers teammates had earned that honor in franchise history. Golden State Warriors NBA Season Preview: Stephen Curry | Klay Thompson | D'Angelo Russell [2019-20] The Warriors came into the season looking to achieve one of the most prestigious feats in the NBA, the three-peat. They were the traveling juggernaut that every other fanbase would circle on the calendar. This usually led to every opponent giving them their best performance as they wanted to take down the back-to-back champs. The Warriors finally found a foe that was worthy of their talents. The Raptors took the Warriors to the brink of elimination as they were up 3 games to 1 before the worst was about to happen. Durant heroically came back before he was 100% healthy to try and help his team win but he tragically tore his Achilles as a result. They did win that game and came back to Oakland for the last game ever at Oracle Arena. The wheels really came off the dynasty in this game as fellow star Thompson tore his ACL during the contest and the Warriors lost. The Warriors will go into next season as underdogs to win the championship for the first time in 4 years. Klay Thompson re-signed but won't be back until at least the all-star break. Kevin Durant, Boogie Cousins, Andre Igoudala, Shaun Livingston, Quinn Cook and Jordan Bell won't be back with the team. But they did add D'Angelo Russell along with other players. Can the Warriors maintain their place in the playoffs without Klay Thompson for at least half a season. Los Angeles Clippers NBA Season Preview: Kawhi Leonard | Paul George | Lou Williams [2019-20] L.A.’s other team defied all expectations by making the playoffs and giving the champs a run for their money. The Clippers shouldn’t have made it here. On paper, they looked like the sort of team that would fight hard but fall short of the playoffs. But even after trading their best player at the trade deadline for the second straight year, the Clippers won 48 games, earned the 8-seed in the West, and even took two games from Golden State. The players may have changed, but the team’s identity—self-aware and scrappy—fueled its season until it hit the Warriors wall. All things considered, Friday’s Game 6 loss was an admirable place for their season to end. The culture that has been build in the Clippers organization has led to Kawhi Leonard to sign there as a free agent. But before that happened the Clippers made a surprising, blockbuster trade with OKC. Paul George is also a Los Angeles Clippers. They had no superstars last year when they won 48 games. Now the have 2. It's championship of bust for the Clippers, which hasn't been the case that many times in their history.
