After a tough week against PSG and Cádiz, Ronald Koeman and Barcelona were able to both rotate some and get back on the winning track. Second half changes were the key, with Lionel Messi, Martin Braithwaite, Pedri, and Jordi Alba coming alive to lead the Blaugrana to the 3-0 win. After the loss to Cádiz, Barcelona needed something to reinvigorate the side. A 1-1 draw against a team that did nothing but defend probably won't do the trick. Messi converted his penalty, but Clement Lenglet committed a bad foul right before the final whistle and Cádiz equalized. Unlike PSG when there was a talent disparity, Ronald Koeman will be asking questions after dropping more points in La Liga. Dealing with a ton of injuries, Ronald Koeman kept a strong front six but made some changes at the back. Unfortunately for the Dutch manager, Jules Koundé wasn't too worried about Barcelona's defense, particularly Samuel Umtiti, as he scored a terrific goal to put Sevilla on top. Ivan Rakitić added one late and now Messi and the Blaugrana find themselves in a 2-0 hole as they head back to the Camp Nou next month for the second leg. A permanent change to a 4-3-3 formation seems to be bringing out the best in Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann found their scoring boots in the 4-0 win over Granada. Plus, a makeshift pairing of Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza got the job done. A brace from Martin Braithwaite, a first Barcelona goal from Sergiño Dest (and first by an American), plus first team debuts for Oscar Mingueza and Konrad de la Fuente gave the Blaugrana plenty to celebrate in a 4-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv. The regular bench players got some major minutes, but did anyone help or hurt their stock without Messi and company around?
