Sofapaka FC and Chemelil sugar might play Ulinzi in the rescheduled matches after all. The two teams were awarded walk overs in league matches that Ulinzi failed to show up as they were taking part in the military games. With Ulinzi within the league leaders' touching distance, the order for a replay casts doubts on the integrity of the league especially after Sofapaka and Chemelil sugar had stated categorically that they would not be forced to play another match against Ulinzi. Clubs in the Kenyan Premier League have asked the KPL to consider postponing matches involving Ulinzi Stars until they return from the world military games in Brazil. KPL and Ulinzi are on a collision course after the company stated they will not reschedule Ulinzi matches as the military games are not part of the CAF and FIFA calendar of events.
Lawrence Owino scored a Hat-trick as Ulinzi walloped Ports of Djibouti 9-0 in their second group c match of the on-going CECAFA club cup in Morogoro Tanzania. The Kenyan football premier league leaders' Tusker FC was forced to a barren draw by Karuturi sports in one of the matches played today in Nairobi. In other matches, former champions Sofapaka and KCB also registered a similar result, while Sony sugar beat western stima by a solitary goal. In Mombasa Gor Mahia drew 2-2 with Congo united.
The long awaited Kenyan premier league kicks off tomorrow with eight matches across the country. Nairobi County will host most of the matches but focus will be in Awendo where Sony host Congo united, and in Mombasa where Bandari take on Chemelil sugar.
Officials of coast teams Bandari FC and Congo United have threatened to go to court, if the audit being carried out by FIFA, declares their promotion to the Kenyan Premier League null and void. A statement released by National wide league clubs, indicate that there were massive irregularities in the league last season and none of the teams should have been promoted.
