Astra Sharma, Australian player of Indian origin. Parents (Dev and Susan) are from Singapore who moved to Australia when Astra was very young. Father has Indian roots. Has an older brother, Ashwin, who just graduated from the University of Pacific (Stockton, California). Younger sister, Tara, goes to a university in Perth, Western Australia. Astra studied in Vanderbilt university - majored in Medicine and graduated with excellent grades - speaks volumes of her hard work. She was the No.1 in NCAA Doubles and No.2 in NCAA Singles rankings.
