NBA Fantasy Quickie (05.07.21) - Is Lebron James still worth waiting for?
Lebron James could play next week and for those who will still be alive next week for their finals and you own James, is he still worth playing? Commish and I feel Lebron has more downside and the upside isn't too nice because of his injury. So with 2 back-to-backs next week, is he still worth holding on to knowing that he could just play half of those games? Staying with the Lakers, Andre Drummond has been a disaster so far for the Lakers. Fantasy-wise he's given some nice games every once in a while, but not close to those mouth-watering stats he used to have in a bad team. Another disaster this season is Anthony Davis. Davis went down again with an injury, though this one looks minor. Still, he has never been close to his top 5 status during draft day and could be considered the biggest bust this season. For tomorrow's games, it will be interesting to see who plays for the Houston Rockets as even Kelly Olynyk is considered game-time decision, leaving them with only 4 players without any injury. NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.03.21) - We're worried about Steph Curry. Isaiah Thomas signs with Pelicans.
Steph Curry missed today's game against the Toronto Raptors due to his injured tailbone. More than the injury, we're worried about the Golden State Warriors seemingly playing for nothing. Draymond Green said it himself, he is not playing for the play-in tournament and after today's whipping from the Raptors, looks like they are headed nowhere. And you know what's next - R-E-S-T. I'm not saying Curry will be resting but the likelihood of him doing so as we enter the fantasy playoffs is quite high. Isaiah Thomas signed with the New Orleans Pelicans and he could matter so we need to keep a close watch. This could be a showcase of what he can do and how healthy he is as he tries to get himself a nice contract in the NBA moving forward. He is still not an add, but just keep a close eye. The season for resting is starting with star players deciding not to play through even minor injuries. And with the trade deadline over, or nearing for some leagues, it will be a test of your add/drop skills. At this point we have to be fast and decisive. Our big risers today features players mostly picked up from the waiver wires at one point this season and I won't be surprised if we have more of those moving forward. Since Anthony Davis re-aggravated his achilles injury, there have been a lot of managers selling their ADs. I've seen some really low ball trades and some seemingly good ones as well. In all those trade, one thing is certain, AD's value has dropped significantly. What do you think is a fair return for Davis? Dennis Schroeder is under COVID protocol, making the Los Angeles Lakers a very depleted team. But unlike OKC which we usually refer to as a goldmine of fantasy relevant players, the Lakers seem to have very few players to choose from. Maybe it's the Lebron James effect since many would think that it will be James who will be carrying much of the load anyway. With only 3 games on the slate, there wasn't really much players to talk about. But there could be some good streaming options here you can consider.
