ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 45): Bengaluru FC script 4-2 win over Chennaiyin FC
Bengaluru FC snapped a seven-game winless run to record a 4-2 victory against Chennaiyin FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Thursday. Mirlan Murzaev (4th) helped Chennaiyin take the lead before Bengaluru scored twice through Cleiton Silva (39th P) and Alan Costa (43rd), albeit riding a bit of luck. Rahim Ali (49th) got Chennaiyin level but Udanta Singh (70th) and Pratik Chowdhary (74th) ensured the Blues' wretched run came to an end as they moved to eighth in the points table from 10th with nine points from the same number of games. Chennaiyin remained on sixth place from eight games having 11 points. The 'home' team were off to a perfect start as Murzaev fired home in just the fourth minute after Germanpreet Singh set him up on the left flank. The 31-year old Kyrgyzstan footballer racked up his second goal this season with a crisp finish after evading Alan Costa and Parag Shrivas. Murzaev celebrated with an acrobatic summersault as the Marina Machans went ahead in style. Murzaev looked in supreme touch, breezing past four Bengaluru shirts to find Rahim Ali whose shot was saved well by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. The Blues failed to get a grip of the game as Chennaiyin not only bossed possession but looked slick with the ball with some eye-catching passing play. Bengaluru needed a bit of luck and that came in the form of a penalty after a Ashique Kuruniyan shot hit Jerry Lalrinzuala's hand inside the box. Cleiton Silva stepped up, paused in his run-up and slammed the ball to the lower right of the keeper. In four minutes, Bengaluru doubled their advantage after a Silva corner went in off Alan Costa's shoulder as Vishal Kaith needlessly came out of his line. Bengaluru's lead was cut short soon after the restart due to poor goalkeeping by Gurpreet. The India No.1 failed to keep out a routine save from Rahim Ali who shot after being teed up by Murzaev. In search of a third goal, Blues' coach Marco Pezzaiuoli replaced Prince Ibara with Sunil Chhetri and minutes later the legendary India striker was involved in Bengaluru's third goal as he passed the ball to Danish Farooq who slipped it to Udanta for the pacy winger to fire home from just outside the box. A Liston Colaco thunderbolt stole the show on a night Roy Krishna also found the target to make Juan Ferrando's return to familiar territory a sweet one as ATK Mohun Bagan beat FC Goa 2-1 in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Wednesday. Ferrando returned to take on his former side FC Goa as ATKMB head coach and Colaco (23rd) gifted him with a stunning strike in the first half. It was his fifth goal of the season, the highest by any Indian this term. Krishna (56th) made it 2-0 early on in the second half before Jorge Ortiz fortuitously pulled one back in the 81st minute but it was not enough in the end. The result means ATKMB continued their resurgence under Ferrando, moving to third in the points table with 14 points from eight matches. FC Goa, meanwhile, remained eighth having the same number of points from eight games. The impressive Devendra Murgaonkar warmed Amrinder Singh's gloves with an early attempt after nutmegging his marker and getting the better of him to shoot on goal. Amrinder saw the ball all the way and had it covered. ATKMB, though, were enjoying the lion's share of possession and got their reward in the 23rd minute albeit a moment of individual brilliance. The sparkling Colaco, causing all sorts of trouble to Goa for some time, got on the ball on the left inside channel near the halfway mark. The 23-year old took a couple of steps forward to then unleash a rocket of a hit that swerved past the keeper and into the back of the net. Ferrando had his hands on his head in disbelief, his mouth wide open as the green and maroons went ahead riding that piece of magic. At the half-hour mark, Jorge Ortiz forced Amrinder into a good save from a free-kick but the half had already gone to Liston for his wonderful strike, and deservingly ATKMB went into the break with a 1-0 lead. The Mariners doubled their advantage soon after the restart, Krishna firing home first time a Hugo Boumous lob from the edge of the box. Goa never really got a grip of the game after falling behind by two goals before a Amrinder gaffe helped them get back in the game. Ortiz's weak left-footer was inexplicably spilled by Amrinder as the ball went into the net. It was an unexpected close encounter between NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) and defending champion Mumbai City FC (MCFC). Playing in Game 42 of the 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda (Goa) on Monday, both settled for a thrilling 3-3 draw. You can watch the match highlights above. The first half saw an intense start, with 14 attacks, including a save from both goalkeepers. In the 28th minute, Deshorn Brown gave NEUFC the lead following Imran Khan's through ball assist. However, four minutes later, Igor Angulo equalised through a Bipin Singh assist. After three more attempts, including a save from MCFC keeper Mohammad Nawaz, Bipin gave Mumbai the lead in the 39th, this time, via an assist from Angulo. The first half ended after an unsuccessful effort thereon, with MCFC leading 2-1. The second off began with a couple of attacks, including another save from Nawaz before Angulo doubled Mumbai's lead in the 51st through Ygor Catatau's assist. Three minutes later, Deshorn Brown scored the second for NEUFC in a solo effort, followed by nine unsuccessful attempts, including a save each. Nonetheless, in the 79th, Brown pulled off a stunning equaliser after Imran came up with the assist. Seven more efforts were made thereon, with both keepers coming up with a couple of saves. However, there were no more goals, as both sides were left with a point each.
