ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 93): Odisha, Chennaiyin share point in thrilling 2-2 encounter

Odisha FC and Chennaiyin FC were dealt body blows to their flailing semifinal aspirations as they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Wednesday. Both teams had to win this game in order to keep their slim chances alive but a stalemate means while they are mathematically still not out, their chances of making the cut are all but over. Rahim Ali (2nd) opened the scoring for Chennaiyin before Javi Hernandez (18th) pulled one back for Odisha for Jonathas Cristian (51st) to help them go in front in the second half. But Nerijus Valskis found the back of the net for Chennaiyin to ensure their rivals don't get all three points. Chennaiyin remained in eighth place with 20 points from 17 matches while Odisha stayed in seventh spot having 22 points from 17 matches. Chennaiyin nosed ahead inside the first two minutes, Rahim Ali tucking in a free-kick from Nerijus Valskis which was initially blocked but fell to the striker who was unmarked at the far post. It was all Chennaiyin in the opening 15 odd minutes but Sabir Pasha -- in charge of the team after Bozidar Bandovic parted ways with the club -- saw his team not being able to make the most of the great start. Javi equalised in the 18th minute after some brilliant off-the-ball movement saw him get past his markers to then play a one-two with Jonathas Cristian and curl the ball with his left foot from outside the box and into the back of the net. Chennaiyin tried to keep more of the ball after the equaliser with Ariel Borysiuk's ambitious attempt from yards outside the box flying over the bar. Borysiuk did better with another effort closer to halftime but the ball just missed the target to sail over the bar. Jonathas then forced Debjit Majumder into a good save as the referee blew the whistle for halftime. Odisha started on the front foot in the second half and Jonathas helped them take the lead for the first time in the game, smashing home off a rebound after Chennaiyin defenders failed to clear the ball inside the area. Soon after, Jonathas chipped an effort before Valskis nodded in a powerful header into the bottom corner from a cross isl 2021 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 91): Kerala Blasters edge past SC East Bengal with 1-0 win

Kerala Blasters FC breached the top-four positions after securing a narrow 1-0 win over SC East Bengal in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan Stadium. The Yellows reached the third position from sixth, thanks to the solitary goal by Enes Sipovic (49’) who scored the winner for the Kochi side with a towering header. As for the Red & Gold Brigade, the winless run extends to five matches. A measured approach from both teams saw less clear scoring chances in the early stages. Alvaro Vazquez was the first to hit the target for KBFC with a diving header which was easily saved by Sankar Roy between the sticks. The SCEB goalkeeper was quite busy in the remainder of the first half as well but commanded his area expertly to deny a goal to the Yellow Army. There were no goals to report in the first half as neither team was able to break the deadlock before going into the break. The second half began on a sensational note for KBFC as they went into the lead courtesy of Enes Sipovic. Four minutes into the half, he connected well with a corner and guided the header past the goalkeeper to score his first goal in the ISL. Ivan Vukomanovic’s men continued to push for another goal after getting their noses in front. Jorge Diaz made room for himself on the 68th-minute mark but had his shot saved easily by Roy. Immediately on the other end, Antonio Perosevic unleashed a volley that almost caught Prabhsukhan Gill off-guard but did not lead to a goal. Mario Rivera made a whole host of changes post the second water break in order to inspire his team to find an equaliser. Hira Mondal received a late yellow card but could have gotten a red due to the nature of his tackle on Adrian Luna. Six minutes were added by the fourth official for stoppages but KBFC maintained their lead and secured the win with a determined defensive performance. Kerala Blasters FC faces a stern ATK Mohun Bagan test in their next outing at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Saturday while SC East Bengal plays reigning ISL champions Mumbai City FC at the PJN Stadium on Tuesday after a week’s gap. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 90): Mumbai City demolishes Odisha FC 4-0

Mumbai demolish Odisha to storm into fourth in the table Goa, February 13: A commanding display from Mumbai City FC saw them secure a 4-1 win over Odisha FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda. A brace each from Igor Angulo (41’, 70’) and Bipin Singh (47’, 73’) was enough to cancel Jonathas’ (90+1’) goal and secure three points that lift the club to the fourth position on the table. On the other hand, the Kalinga Warriors are left licking their wounds as they remain stuck in seventh place. MCFC was denied two shouts for a penalty early in the match as they pushed for the opening goal. Both teams exchanged blows back and forth until the half-hour mark, looking for the opening goal. Jerry Mawihmingthanga came extremely close to opening the scoring but Mandar Dessai denied him with a last-ditch clearance right after the drinks break. However, it was the Islanders that broke the deadlock through Igor Angulo. The Spaniard was left unmarked inside the box by the Odisha defenders, who met Rahul Bheke’s cross and slotted his header past the goalkeeper with ease. Victor Mongil came close to scoring the equaliser but his header from a corner went off-target, to the disappointment of his head coach on the sidelines. Despite OFC’s best efforts, MCFC maintained their advantage heading into the halftime break. The second half began on a terrible note for Odisha as they conceded the second goal, this time through Bipin Singh. The winger was fed by Ahmed Jahouh and managed to find the back of the net from an extremely tight angle. The scorers Bipin and Igor combined again at the stroke of the 70th minute to add a third goal. Scoring his second, Angulo weaved past a couple of defenders and calmly put his left-footed shot in the bottom right corner. Then, Bipin Singh scored his second from close range barely two minutes later following brilliant work from Cassio Gabriel on the left flank who served the ball on a platter. The Islanders were denied the clean sheet by Jonathas, who found the back of the net with a sensational curling effort from long range four minutes before the final whistle. Odisha face a struggling Chennaiyin FC in their next fixture at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Wednesday whereas Mumbai City FC clashes with fellow top-four contenders Jamshedpur FC at the Athletic Stadium on Thursday. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 88): Hyderabad FC edges past Bengaluru FC 2-1
ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 88): Hyderabad FC edges past Bengaluru FC 2-1

Sunil Chhetri's historic goal went in vain as Hyderabad FC edged past Bengaluru FC 2-1 to consolidate their lead at the top of the table in the Hero Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Friday. Chhetri became the all-time top scorer with his 50th goal but by the time the legendary marksman got his name on the scoresheet, Hyderabad were already leading 2-0 with first-half goals from Javier Siviero (16th) and Joao Victor (30th). The result means Hyderabad now have 29 points from 16 games, four more than second-placed Jamshedpur FC who have played two matches less. Bengaluru remain third with 23 in their kitty from 16 outings. The marquee clash got off to a fiery start as both teams looked to press and not let the opponent enjoy possession. Hyderabad stringed together some good passes and one such move resulted in an early goal for the table toppers. Ogbeche tried to turn in a cross whipped in from the left flank but could not connect well, only for Siviero to pull the trigger and beat Gurpreet Singh Sandhu for pace as the keeper got a hand to it but it wasn't enough to keep the ball out of the net. Hyderabad kept pressing after drawing first blood and at the half-hour mark, doubled their lead, this time a training ground drill working wonders. Souvick Chakraborty and Joao Victor combine from a free-kick with the latter moving to his right and firing home a low shot that nestled into the bottom right corner. In the second half, Bengaluru tried hard to get back in the game but could not deliver the goods in the final third as Hyderabad held firm. Bengaluru's industry paid off three minutes to full time when Chhetri became the all-time highest scorer in the league with his 50th goal. Cleiton Silva fed Udanta on his right with a delectable ball and the pacy winger crossed for Chhetri who found the back of the net with aplomb. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 82): Bengaluru FC rallies past Jamshedpur FC 3-1

Bengaluru FC made it three wins on the spin to move to the third spot, riding a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Jamshedpur FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim here on Saturday. Daniel Chima Chukwu had given Jamshedpur the lead inside the first minute but Bengaluru made a roaring comeback in the second half, Cleiton Silva (62nd, 90th) scoring twice on either side of Sunil Chhetri's equaliser in the 55th minute. Chhetri scored his 49th goal, equalling Hyderabad FC's Bart Ogbeche who became the all-time highest scorer of the Hero ISL the other day with 49 strikes as Bengaluru stretched their unbeaten run to eight games. Bengaluru now have 23 points from 15 games, same as Kerala Blasters who are second due to better goal difference. Jamshedpur dropped to fourth with the loss with 22 points from 13 matches. Jamshedpur were in the ascendancy in the very first minute of the game, Chima getting on the scoresheet for the second consecutive game since joining the Men of Steel. Alexandre Lima carried the ball through the heart of the pitch and passed to Borish Singh who lay it up for Chima who got in between Alan Costa and Roshan Naorem to first trap the ball and then fire it into the roof of the net. Pegged back so early on, Bengaluru tried hard to equalise but Jamshedpur, missing the services of skipper Peter Hartley due to suspension, sat back and defended well as a unit. The Blues' best chance of the half fell to Chhetri who could not turn in a brilliant Roshan corner despite having to head into an empty net after keeper T.P. Rehenesh committed early. The skipper dragged his header wide and had his hand on his head as his team went into the break trailing by that solitary goal. The Marco Pezzaiuoli-coached team came out all guns blazing in the second period and Chhetri atoned for his miss just before halftime to fire home from inside the box after a long throw from Parag Shrivas saw the ball come off Bruno Ramires' legs and into the path of the veteran marksman. In the next seven minutes, Bengaluru doubled their lead. The hard-working Naorem swung in a superb corner for Silva to nod in past an outstretched Jitendra Singh and into the back of the net. Bengaluru were all over Jamshedpur after taking the lead, Silva and Chhetri combining to almost set Udanta Singh in the clear only for Ricky Lallawmawma to intercept. Silva doubled his tally in injury time, making the most of Narender Gahlot's botched clearance from a throw-in to beat a defender and fire into the far post from a tight angle. Jamshedpur had their chances but Chukwu and Stewart were denied from the goal line as it was Bengaluru's day in office. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 80): Mumbai City settles for a point against ATK Mohun Bagan

Heavyweights Mumbai City FC and ATK Mohun Bagan displayed their full repertoire but were left high and dry in the end with a 1-1 draw in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda here on Thursday. David Williams opened the scoring for ATKMB in the ninth minute but an own goal from Pritam Kotal in the 24th minute restored parity for Mumbai. Both teams had their fair share of chances in each half but could not produce a winner. The result means ATKMB could not break into the top-four, remaining fifth with 20 points from 12 games. Mumbai's winless run stretched to seven games as the reigning champions remained sixth in the table with 19 points from 13 outings. ATKMB looked in control from the off and it did not take them long to nose ahead. The brilliant Liston Colaco was hacked down on the left channel but despite green and maroon shirts' loud appeal, the referee did not give a free-kick. Mourtada Fall then passed the ball to Ahmed Jahouh who dilly-dallied with Hugo Boumous pressing him hard. Williams latched on to the loose ball, skipped past the keeper and put it past him. Colaco proved to be a menace for the Mumbai City FC defence as he made constant forays and looked threatening every time he bombed forward. ATKMB kept knocking on the door as Colaco found the wall thrice to underline his dominance. Mumbai tried hard to wrestle back the advantage and saw the ball for a brief period in which Cassio Gabriel's attempt was thwarted by Tiri but Kotal failed to keep out a Bipin Singh cross, deflecting the ball into his own net. After the cooling break, Williams had a chance to double his tally but his sharp header from a Liston Colaco free-kick that fell to him after hitting the wall came off the woodwork. Mohamad Nawaz then had a moment to forget when he charged out of his area in an attempt to head the ball clear but could only manage to send it as far as Boumous but the Frenchman was closed down by blue shirts. In the second half, Mumbai took off Diego Mauricio who had a forgettable debut for the Islanders for Igor Angulo. Soon after, Boumous shot wide after Manvir Singh sent in a low cross from the right and Williams sold a cute dummy. At the other side, Angulo headed wide from Jahouh's cross. At the hour mark, Mumbai's new signing Lallianzuala Chhangte came in for Vikram Pratap Singh and was in the thick of things almost immediately as he flicked on a ball from Gabriel into the path of Angulo but his header was saved well by Amrinder Singh. Kiyan Nassiri, who scored a breathtaking hattrick coming off the bench against SC East Bengal in the Kolkata Derby the other day, replaced Asutosh Mehta in the 85th minute as both sides looked for the winner. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 71): Mumbai registers 1-1 draw against NorthEast United

Ten-man Mumbai City FC failed to snap their winless run as they were held to a 1-1 draw by NorthEast United FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Tuesday. Ahmed Jahouh helped the reigning champions take the lead from the spot in the 30th minute but a relentless NorthEast United kept piling on the pressure and finally got their reward through substitute Mohamed Irshad who struck in the 79th minute to ensure both sides shared the spoils. The result means Mumbai remained winless in their last six games, moving back to the top-four but only just with 18 points from 12 games, level on points with Chennaiyin FC who take on Bengaluru FC on Wednesday. NorthEast United remained at 10th place in the table, having 10 points from 14 games. For Mumbai, things got worse as Amey Ranawade was shown a red card in stoppage time after he picked up his second yellow card. NorthEast United were off to a positive start but Mumbai soon got their grip on the tie, Jahouh whipping in a delicious ball for Vikram Pratap Singh whose flick-on was off target. Mourtada Fall was denied by a sharp save from Subhasish Roy Chowdhury as Mumbai started calling the shots. The momentum soon reflected in a goal albeit from a spot-kick after Vikram was tripped inside the box by Mashoor Shereef. NorthEast protested vehemently against the decision by the referee pointed to the spot and Jahouh thumped the ball high and into the left corner of the goal leaving Roy Chowdhury with no chance to get a hand to it. Stung by a goal, the Highlanders upped the ante but it was Mumbai who looked the likelier of the two sides to double their lead. Just before halftime, Bradden Inman missed a sitter after being set up by Cassio Gabriel. In the second period, NorthEast United had an early chance to equalise but Gurjinder Kumar headed wide. The best chance for NorthEast United fell to Suhair Vadakkepeedika whose chip caught Mohamad Nawaz off his line but the ball cannoned off the post. Two minutes later, Marcelinho's effort thundered off the bar as NorthEast United as Mumbai breathed a sigh of relief. Hernan Santana then tried his luck from range with a delightful free-kick but the keeper did well to keep his effort at bay. NorthEast United kept knocking on the door and finally got their reward from an unlikely source. Minutes after coming on for Sehnaj Singh, defender Irshad found the back of the net with a striker's finish after the ball fell to him from a NorthEast United corner and he applied a neat finish towards the far corner. Cassio Gabriel got a golden chance to help Mumbai back into the lead after Amey Ranawade swung in a sharp cross for him inside the box but the Brazilian forced a sharp save from Roy Chowdhury. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa...
