Has Red Bull really developed its F1 car away from Sergio Perez to suit Max Verstappen?
Sergio Perez had a strong start to the 2022 Formula 1 season, giving team-mate Max Verstappen a hard time in the early stages of the year. But from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards, things have become more difficult for Perez. He has slipped back into his expected number two role and fallen back in the world championship fight. How Alpine is becoming the third F1 team to waste Fernando Alonso
When Fernando Alonso celebrated his second world championship at the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix, the 26-year-old had the Formula 1 world at his feet. But since then, he hasn’t achieved anything like the success that appeared to lie ahead of him. The new F1 rule changes to fight floor tricks in 2023 - and why 2022 clampdown is delayed
Four specific changes have been revealed for the 2023 Formula 1 season as the FIA continues its fight to outlaw floor tricks and combat the porpoising phenomenon of the new ground-effect cars. F1’s governing body fears that porpoising and bottoming out will only get worse next year if left unaddressed and has now settled on specific ideas to help ensure that doesn’t happen. Daniel Ricciardo has reacted to increasing speculation about his Formula 1 future by insisting he is committed to McLaren until the end of his contract next year - and he will not ‘walk away’ before then. What Williams's 'new car' shows it got wrong for F1's 2022 rules
Williams introduced a massive mid-season upgrade package at the British Grand Prix that represented a dramatic departure from its original design. Not only did it transform the look of the car, but it also represented an admission of the big mistake Williams made with its original concept for F1’s return to full ground effect cars in 2022. It doesn’t require an expert technical eye to spot that the key change was the Mercedes-style narrow sidepods being abandoned. These have been replaced with a more conventional design that takes inspiration from both Ferrari and Red Bull – but fundamentally is more in the direction of Red Bull. But the sidepods were a symptom of what Williams got wrong, rather than the cause. Zhou Guanyu's terrifying British GP crash and how F1 escaped something worse
Formula 1 narrowly avoided disaster on more than one occasion in the opening moments of the British Grand Prix. Not only did Alfa Romeo driver Zhou Guanyu escape unhurt from a terrifying first corner crash, but the resulting red flag saved us from potentially witnessing a tragedy, as it meant protestors that had invaded the track after the start were not encountered by the cars at racing speed.
