Red Bull’s F1 winning streak has been met with speculation that Honda’s second engine of the season has somehow contributed to its upturn in pace relative to Mercedes. With engine performance upgrades outlawed in-season in 2021, that suggestion has upset Honda and Red Bull, and now the Japanese manufacturer has addressed the finger-pointing coming from elsewhere in the pitlane. Scott Mitchell explains Honda’s position on the fuss about its engine, and explains the development work it is carrying out - for the Red Bull-badged 2022 engine #F1 #RedBull #Honda Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/WeAreTheRace Instagram: http://instagram.com/WeAreTheRace Facebook: http://facebook.com/WeAreTheRace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Williams could have a big decision to make on its F1 line-up in the coming weeks, if George Russell gets his long-awaited call-up to Mercedes to partner Lewis Hamilton for 2022. As Williams continues its recovery from being cast adrift at the back of the field to becoming a midfield challenger again, a strong driver line-up will be vital to making sure it doesn't lose momentum. Edd Straw looks at the candidates who could replace Russell as the team's lead driver, and other options who could be considered for the second seat if a shake up is coming. Lando Norris is briefly on 10 licence penalty points and only two from a Formula 1 race ban. That will change before the next event but it’s a tally he believes he’s reached for “stupid” reasons. That’s earned him the support of Max Verstappen and prompted McLaren to call for a review of F1’s licence penalty point system. Norris will still be on a tightrope until more of his points elapse, as one more slip-up in the eyes of the officials would place him back on the brink. In this video Scott Mitchell reviews how the McLaren driver ended up so close to a ban, why the stewards were so busy at the Austrian GP and what the FIA thinks of all the fuss around the penalty points system. F1 has been through a spell of rules clarifications in recent weeks, from flexi-wings, to tyre pressures and pitstops speeds. And Red Bull has detected a theme behind all of those - as they seem to be aimed at the championship leading-team that has finally come good in 2021. Is that theory credible, and should Red Bull feel like it's being attacked because of its success? Scott Mitchell looks into each case to see if there really could be something behind all of these rule tweaks - and where they might be coming from in the first place. "Everyone is always trying to screw you over in this sport" - those were the words of Valtteri Bottas after he got a penalty for spinning in the pitlane during practice ahead of the Styrian Grand Prix. Bottas could hardly complain about his penalty, but he was right that F1 has a culture of teams and drivers trying to get each other in trouble. In this video we look at the reasons behind that culture developing, and ask if it has reached a point where it is going too far READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/f1s-snitch-culture-is-tedious-but-bottas-cant-complain/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/WeAreTheRace Instagram: http://instagram.com/WeAreTheRace Facebook: http://facebook.com/WeAreTheRace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. #F1 #FIA https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Red Bull won its fourth race in a row at the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix, making this the first time in F1's hybrid era that Mercedes has been on a losing streak this long. But while Max Verstappen was further clear of Lewis Hamilton than we've seen on most occasions we've seen this year, the tension between the two teams off-track was fiercer than ever at the Red Bull Ring. Scott Mitchell explores what's been going on behind the scenes, why both teams are taking shots at each other, and how Red Bull has stolen the initiative in the title race. Mercedes was just over a lap away from bouncing back after two forgettable street races with a victory as soon as F1 returned to a conventional circuit, but the French Grand Prix slipped through Lewis Hamilton's fingers as the reigning world champion team was outfoxed by Red Bull. Scott Mitchell looks at where Mercedes went wrong, what it could have done differently, and how the race at Paul Ricard fitted into a developing pattern of the team not being at its sharpest READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/how-mercedes-underestimated-verstappens-undercut/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/WeAreTheRace Instagram: http://instagram.com/WeAreTheRace Facebook: http://facebook.com/WeAreTheRace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. #F1 Hamilton #Verstappen https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
F1 teams have followed a trend in recent years of trying to make their nose designs as narrow as possible - an idea pioneered by Mercedes. But the thinking behind this trend goes back much further than what Mercedes did in 2017. As Edd Straw explains in this video, the theory behind the narrow noses of today can be traced back 30 years, and what we see on the current cars are a consequence of several rule changes over the last decade #F1 Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/WeAreTheRace Instagram: http://instagram.com/WeAreTheRace Facebook: http://facebook.com/WeAreTheRace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
