After falling behind big twice, the Nicholls State University baseball team rallied to make a game of it late, but the lead was too much to overcome as the Colonels dropped the finale to Southeastern Louisiana 10-9 Saturday afternoon in Hammond. With the loss the Colonels fall to 14-15 on the year and 1-5 in Southland Conference, while Southeastern remains undefeated in league play with a 21-8 overall record and 6-0 mark in the league.
Sam Houston took an early lead and held onto it as the Bearkats defeated A&M-Corpus Christi 5-3 and won their first conference series of the year.
Desmond Haymon had 17 points and Antoino Bostic registered his second career double-double as the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks pulled away from Sam Houston State in the second half to take a 57-42 win and claim no worse than a share of its third Southland Conference title on Thursday at William R. Johnson Coliseum.
