The Brooklyn Nets added to the war chest with the addition of Blake Griffin following his contract buy-out in Detroit. Griffin, 31, is looking to compete for a championship and is finally in a situation to do so after being a part of the Detroit Piston's rebuild since the 2017-18 season. The Nets already boast impressive firepower and will be a historic offense for years to come if they stay together. The question now is how much can Blake Griffin contribute to a championship formula? Justin and Felix discuss how Blake fits with the Nets going forward and if this move will prove to be a pivotal aspect of their hopeful title run. Enough time has passed to discuss the current positioning of teams in the NBA and provide a progress gauge. We start with the Western Conference where the Utah Jazz ran off 11 straight wins before falling to the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers have quietly looked like the best version of themselves amidst Paul George's return to MVP-level play. Both teams have histories of sputtering out in the playoffs and both lost 3-1 leads in the bubble. Justin and Felix discuss if this year will be different for these two contenders trying to get over the hump. #LosAngelesLakers #DenverNuggets #LosAngelesClippers The NBA season is right around the corner again! In Atlantic Files tradition, that means it’s time for some conference previews! Today, we’re taking a look at the Western Conference preview. In the Northwest Division, we watched the Denver Nuggets quite comfortably take the top spot. There’s no real surprise there, it was something a lot of us expected. The division might look a lot different this season though with the changes to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers. Minnesota made some great draft picks, but we’re not entirely confident that will help them all that much in this season. Going to the Pacific Division, there’s a lot to be excited about. This division will probably be one of the biggest battles in the league. As champions, the Los Angeles Lakers will defend their crown against the likes of the Los Angeles Clippers(again), a vengeful Golden State Warriors, and a new-look Phoenix Suns. Each game is going to be hard to win in the division, and we’re here for it! Finally, there’s the Southwest Division which is in a sort of limbo. If James Harden stays with the Houston Rockets, then the division will get interesting. Since it looks like he will be gone, however, the division gets quite boring in terms of championship contenders. All of that plus breakdowns for each team in the latest episode below! Timestamps: 1:50 – Northwest Division 17:15 – Pacific Division 28:45 – Southwest Division ------------------------------------------------------------- Atlantic Files Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/4MnRWWL0lUpMZCnVRSNsDe Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-atlantic-files/id1228000972 Basketball Society Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0py2KFLwag7qsG5NJW5kpi Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/basketball-society/id1046405233

#BenSimmons #Sixers #76ers NBA columnist Brandon Robinson shares information he received from college basketball expert Rashad Phillips on the Toronto Raptors looking to make a move for LaMelo Ball in the 2020 NBA Draft. He also hears that Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons privately wants out and is tired of his role and the scrutiny of Philly fans. These potential scenarios could be related to the NBA Draft this week, as the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors have the top two overall picks. It's believed that the Warriors or T-Wolves could use their picks to make a deal for 76ers star Ben Simmons in a potential three-team trade with Toronto as they pursue LaMelo Ball.
