With persistent rainfall at Colombo it has become very hard for the organizers to fit in matches amidst a packed schedule. India originally had a day off between their fixtures against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. But the reserve day mode activation out of nowhere for the particular match against their arch-rivals Pakistan India now have to play intense cricket on three consecutive days. However the reserve day was offered for this one game was in agreement with all the boards taking part in the Super Fours stage of the Asia Cup 2023. So just 16 hours after sinking Pakistan Men in Blue go head-to-head against the co-hosts Sri Lanka who are a 13-match winning streak at R.Premadasa Stadium (RPS) in Colombo. Everyone expected Indian batters especially top-order would bounce against Pakistani pacers what transpired in group stage. Probably not. Rohit and Shubman teared off the new ball effect with superb half-centuries providing a flying start after being asked to bat first. A proper downpour had it's control over the proceedings for a long time and it was not a straight resumption on the reserve day either. But the concentration and determination of Kohli and comeback man Rahul was such that they just batted and batted to leave Pakistan pondering around. Rahul made full use of the advantage after replacing Shreyas Iyer in the XI who had suffered from a back spasm just before the start and announced his return with pointing the bat to the heavens. King Kohli orchestrated an excellent ton his fourth in straight innings' at RPS and kept punching at Babar Azam and co. with an unbeaten partnership of 233 runs alongside KL Rahul to post a mammoth 356 runs on the board. Jasprit Bumrah bowled for the first time in this Asia Cup and moved the ball both ways and made the Pakistani openers to dance to his music getting a brilliant support from Siraj. Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur as well got the movements and bowled fantastic nuts to dismiss Babar Azam and Rizwan respectively before Kuldeep Yadav's (8-0-25-5) spin magic came into the fore and floored down Pakistan completely. India's win by 228 runs was their 4th biggest in ODIs and overall 4th biggest in the Asia Cup. Recovery is the key for the players with continuous games coming up including the mega event the World Cup. The team management might persist with the winning XI a game at least but there is a possibility of rotating some of the players especially the fast bowlers. Sri Lanka have been able to catch the crucial moments and managed to win 13 ODI matches on the bounce. They are just behind Australia's 21 consecutive victories which is the longest-ever winning streak in this format. It is not that Sri Lanka have the full strength at the moment. Four main stream bowlers- Wanindu Hasaranga Dushmantha Chameera Kumara and Dilshan Madushanka are out due to respective injuries. But on a good note that all of these bowlers are seen practicing in the nets which is a really good news for the Lankan Board. The Lankan Lions got through the Group B as the toppers but not before facing a scare against Afghanistan. But the confidence arises from their two good wins against Bangladesh in what is termed as a 'Naagin Derby'. A few starts in the top order with Mendis getting to another ODI fifty Sri Lanka looked to had control of their first Super Four game against Bangladesh before the pace trio of Taskin Shoriful Mahmud pegged the co-hosts back with regular wickets. India vs Ireland 3rd T20 Live Scores This Match Will be Played at The Village Dublin Malahide Cricket Club Ground on 23rd August 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.30pm From Indian Standard time. There's a mood of celebration in India after the successful landing of Chandrayaan. Not much is going to dampen it today but as far as the cricket is concerned the weather in Dublin is a bit of a dampener. The toss has been delayed due to rain. India lead the series 2-0 having put in a strong performance in the previous match. Some good runs for Ruturaj Gaikwad Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh followed by another cracking effort from Jasprit Bumrah who's hardly showing any rustiness of being out for so long. Prasidh Krishna was very impressive with his pace and bounce as well boding well for India's pace stocks. Nothing new from the middle as it is still raining and the waiting game continues. We can only hope that it clears up quickly and that we get to see some action. Prasidh Krishna (India): "Yes it's a proud day for us. We have been following the moon landing [on Chandrayaan 3 moon landing] in the team bus and followed it to the ground. We saw it there. Really happy after being selected in the squad for Asia Cup. It's gonna be the same process for me. I think yeah I am getting into groove. I have been running well. I would be looking execute things well. I think is about being consistent what I wanna do. If I am able to execute what I am trying to do it's going to be good for me. It's an important match for me. The covers are firmly on. Super Sopper is moving around! It's still drizzling and the covers are placed. We can only expect the weather to ease off. Uh oh! Unfortunately it currently raining at The Village in Malahide and the covers are firmly in place. a result toss has been delayed for now. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that the weather clears up soon for us to have a prompt start. We are nearing the end of yet another bilateral series as Ireland and India square off for one last time in the 3rd and final T20I at Malahide in Dublin. As most of us would have expected the visitors have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series but Ireland have certainly had their moments and did have a chance in the first match that was cut short due to rain. India though won the second game fairly convincingly the batters put on a stellar show and then the bowlers backed them up as well. Having put bat by the Irish skipper Paul Stirling. the pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad started firing early but they did lose a couple of quick wickets in the Powerplay. Gaikwad played the anchor role and scored a half-century before the likes of Sanju Samson Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh really upped the tempo. It was Singh who impressed most on his first-ever senior outing with the bat at the International level. Ireland a similar story with the bat from the first game as they lost early wickets but Balbirnie looked in sublime touch and went on to score 72. While chasing a score of more than 180 you do need more one batter to step up and unfortunately for the home side no one else got a 30-40 odd with tailenders Adair cutting the deficit with a fine cameo. The Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah looked very close to his best with the ball and led his side pretty well too. He will now have his focus on making a clean sweep but we might see the likes of Jitesh Sharma and a few others a game. Ireland do have enough individual talent to really challenge the Indian side but Paul Stirling needs to take more responsibility with the bat and their ace pacer Little needs to fire as well. Can the Irish pull off an upset and give the home fans a big reason to rejoice? Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. India vs Ireland 1st T20 Live Scores This Match Will be Played at The Village Dublin on 18th August 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.30pm From Indian Standard time. The first game of the series is set to take place at the Village in Dublin. India are under a new captain and the squad is pretty much filled with IPL youngsters. On the other hand Ireland also have a fairly new skipper since the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023. So we are in a thrilling contest given the weather supports cricket rather than creating havoc. It has been very dark and consistent rainfall so far in the whole United Kingdom. A few of the England Domestic One-Day Cup matches have been delayed due to rain. There might be some rain intervals in the Hundred competition as well. Just as Niall John O'Brien tweeted from the venue or should I say around it it looks very much threatening for the game. It was raining earlier in the morning and it looks gloomy for the afternoon. Jasprit Bumrah is coming off a long injury break. He went through a successful back surgery in New Zealand. Then the recovery and rehabilitation at NCA in Bengaluru before getting fully fit for this tour and eventually being named the captain of the Indian set-up for the series. So Bumrah will be the first bowler to lead India in T20Is. The Indian fans wouldn’t want any further hiccups and hopefully no more injury worries for Bumrah. Paul Stirling will have a great opportunity to lead Ireland against a very young Indian side. He has done well in the recent tournament and led his team to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as Ireland have been qualified from the European Qualifiers. The Meteorological Department of Ireland have issued Yellow Alert for today and it would take something to get the match going. We might see a few debutants from India with the likes of Rinku and Jitesh in the squad. They would be hoping to replicate what Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have done when they made their debuts in West Indies. Toss Update: India won the toss and elect to bowl first. Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna have been given their T20I caps. Both will be making their debuts today. While it's Rinku's international debut it is Prasidh's T20I debut. At present it's not raining. The teams have begun the warm-up. The outfield is quite damp. Captain Jasprit Bumrah presents the debut caps to both Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna. Prasidh Krishna is also returning to the side after a long injury lay-off. Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "Looking forward to go out there and see what we put on the board. We will look to continue the good performance not get ahead from our position and see it game by game. We have a good run recently from Scotland and for this game the preparation has been good so will see what we can show today. This is the beginning to that adventure so to speak [T20 World cup 2024]. We are looking forward to it and a good performance today. We are bringing Craig Young in the side today." Jasprit Bumrah (India Captain): "Feels good to be here. We have decided to bowl first. Very good chance for the guys and hopefully it should go well. The weather looks lovely. I am feeling great. Good to be back and hope to play some cricket. When you realise what you have been missing you always love to make a comeback. Last time it was a tough fight from the Irish side and I am expecting nothing short of that this time around. We have got two debutants. We have got Rinku Singh who is making his debut. Also Prasidh Krishna making his T20I debut. Hopefully they should. They have worked hard to come here and I have just said to enjoy the game." Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. The caravan has now moved on to Lauderhill in the USA for the final two games. After losing a couple of closely-fought games the Men in Blue put in a dominant performance in the previous game to keep the series alive. India’s talisman in this format Suryakumar Yadav soared high and played a blistering knock to help his side coast home. That's a strong finish from Odean Smith as the flexing of muscle helps him gain a six. The Windies end up with 178 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets despite being in a nervy situation halfway through the innings. 57 runs have been belted away in the last five overs by the Windies batters. A six in the first over from Kyle Mayers was a compliment to the disdain character that the nature of the pitch inherited in Florida during the first innings today. Although Mayers' sparkle didn't last long as the introduction of Arshdeep Singh acted as the resistance to his flow. In the left-arm pacer's second over within the powerplay he also removed the other opener- Brandon King who was looking to accelerate. The home side could manage to gather 55 runs from the powerplay for the loss of two wickets. Nicholas Pooran was the one who arrived at the stage alongside Shai Hope and then the spectators got to witness a double strike in the 7th over. It was the Kuldeep Yadav enchantment that got the better of Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell in the same over. All of a sudden a good start was curtailed down to a tricky 57-4 as the scoreboard read. Shai Hope: "Yeah I thought we started well. We can speak on all possibilities. But we didn't do well in the middle. Good innings from Hettie (Hetmyer) and it was a good finish in the end. Probably 10 runs short. They bowled decently we lost a few wickets in the middle. Hetmyer came in and played positively from the get-go giving me some breathing space. Obviously want to go and go on to get a big one. But it's what it is. I always wanted to play the format and contribute to West Indies. Today got the opportunity and I thought I was doing well. You always think that you have enough. But it's cricket anything can happen. Hopefully we can defend this." With India keen on experimenting keeping in mind the 2024 T20 World Cup Umran Malik can get a look in today. On the other hand West Indies have a chance to seal the series today with a game in hand. They had defeated South Africa 2-1 in their last T20I series in March this year. If they are able to win this series it would be their first back-to-back T20I series win since 2017. Coming to their playing XI if Jason Holder is fit he is likely to replace Roston Chase. Would they think of bringing in Hope in place of Charles due to the latter’s lean patch? In Lauderhill the hosts have a poor record against India having lost four won one being washed out. pitches here usually conducive strokeplay a high-scoring affair might cards. Pooran vs Kuldeep T20s 7 innings 41 runs 4 dismissals SR 95.34. Most runs conceded Indian spinner in the first over of the innings - T20Is: Ashwin - 17 vs ENG in 2014 Axar - 14 vs WI in 2023 Ashwin - 13 vs NZ in 2016 Sundar - 13 vs WI in 2019 Cometh the time Cometh the man. Shimron Hetmyer steps up when it mattered. Some hard work for Hetty and now one can expect some whacking in the remaining few balls that he face. A half-century for the Guyanese star. India vs West Indies 3rd T20 Live This Match Will be Played at Providence Stadium Guyana on 8th August 2023 This Match Will Start at 8.00pm From Indian Standard time. The home team West Indies surprised everyone by winning the opening two games and have a great chance now to seal a rare series win against India. It's a do-or-die game for India so expect another intense contest with lot at stakes for both the teams. West Indies have played like a unit in this T20I series been missing from their game for quite a long time now. Nicholas Pooran has been the standout batter while Rovman Powell has also batted well. Windies bat deep and have plenty of match-winners like Kyle Mayers Hetmyer in their arsenal which makes them a dangerous unit. On the bowling front too there are plenty of bowling options and all of them have been pretty disciplined in this series so far. the second T20I with some careless cricket at the backend and that is something they need to be vary of. Expect West Indies to come out all guns blazing again. India on the other hand need their batters to step up. They struggled big time on a slow wicket and apart from Tilak Varma other batters could not show any application. the top order as a whole has not fired and that is a worry for India. We might also see a Yashasvi Jaiswal debut in place of Gill who has played non-stop cricket recently and has struggled in this T20I series. Also it is high time a player of the caliber of Samson joins the party which could go a long way in India putting up a big total on the board. On the bowling front Yuzvendra Chahal has been fantastic to say the least but there is a possibility of Umran Malik of Avesh Khan coming in for Mukesh Kumar. It is a must-win game for this young Indian side and it is a test of character for Hardik Pandya and his boys. Let's see how things pan out. The eternal dilemma with Indian cricket in recent times has been regarding the balance between long-term planning and short-term results. During their ODI World Cup win in 2019 and the T20 title victory in 2022 England showed the benefits of having a vision without compromising on results. It is a template that the Indian team is still far away from cracking as they look to transition towards a phase beyond the Virat Kohli's and Rohit Sharma's. In that aspect the ongoing white-ball leg of the West Indies tour hasn't gone to plan for Hardik Pandya's men. They did win the ODI series but were stretched considerably and have now lost two T20Is in a row against West Indies for the first time since 2016. The fact that this has come at a time when the Caribbean side has been at arguably its lowest in terms of morale and squad strength makes the picture a lot worse for the Indian team. However like with anything there are pros and cons. The results haven't come as yet but India have been able to give game time to the likes of Tilak Varma (who has impressed straightaway) and Sanju Samson (who is yet to come to the party) as viable middle-order options. Mukesh Bishnoi and Ishan Kishan are the others who have gotten opportunities to be in the mix. With the T20 World Cup next year scheduled to be in West Indies and USA. What to expect: Another spin-friendly surface is expected at Guyana with variable bounce also expected to play a part. The forecast for the week is for rain in Guyana and this could be another key factor in the game. Being 2-0 up in the series is a position of strength for the hosts and they're unlikely to tinker with their playing XI. With two losses on the bounce change is inevitable and Jaiswal could finally get a spot in the XI. In such a scenario Samson might the one missing out. India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Live Scores This Match Will be Played at Providence Stadium Guyana on 6th August 2023 This Match Will Start at 8.00pm From Indian Standard time. IND vs WI 2nd T20 Live Commentary By Sports Updates by Chandan. Follow us on Social Media. Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/Sports-Updates-by-Chandan-108054670939374/?ref=bookmarks YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr2IiLqoVoqWHdyWW_inRkg YouTube 1: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdEtpnaEyqVJ3p5Xm3OqMEg Twitter: https://twitter.com/techindia251995?s=09 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chandan_singh1/ Telegram: https://t.me/sportsupdatesbychandan Hello and welcome to our live coverage of India's tour to the West Indies. After a closely fought first T20I we now head into the second game of the five-match series coming live from Providence Stadium in Guyana. Suryakumar Yadav is all set to play his 50th T20I. Milestones Alert: Yadav is 3 wickets away from 50 T20I wickets. Powell is 6 runs away from 3000 T20 runs. Samson is 9 runs away from 6000 T20 runs. Suryakumar is 3 sixes away from 100 T20I maximums. Hardik Pandya is just a wicket away from the 150th T20 wicket. How will the pitch play: Recent history suggests that spinners will enjoy the conditions more as compared to the pacers and that could perhaps prompt a few changes from both sides. How is the weather? There were predictions of rain prior to the game but all of that seems to have vanished and we should in all likelihood have a full uninterrupted game of cricket. Toss Update: India won the toss and opt to bat first. Being an Indian cricketer is a challenging thing (speaking about adjusting to playing in different batting positions) I have played domestic cricket for the last 8-9 years and for India here and there so it gives you a bit of understanding of playing in different positions. It is the number of overs you get and it is not about batting position so you gotta prepare accordingly." were Samson's exact words during the mid-innings break of the third ODI. A lot of World Cup hopefuls from the Indian team would surely feel every bit of Samson's intensity and emotion involved in that chat. The focus will now shift from Trinidad to Guyana where the West Indies will try to consolidate their lead over India by defeating them in the second T20I of the five-match series. West Indies will be high on confidence in this fixture after successfully defending 37 runs off the final five overs to secure an incredible victory in the first game. Akeal Hosein McCoy and Holder all displayed impressive bowling prowess throughout the match while Shepherd bowled beautifully in the final over allowing four runs to seal the game's fate. Rovman Powell (West Indies Captain): "Yeah yeah definitely. The curator has done a great job and we are ready to go. With the way we batted in the previous match was fantastic. We didn't lose wickets at clusters and hence we are happy with the batting front. On the bowling side we could make a bit better. We are a boundary-hitting side. But we know that the singles and doubles are gonna be important. We haven't made any changes. We are going with the same team. Hardik Pandya (India Captain): "We are gonna bat first. We will try to put some total on the board and then see how it goes. We spoke about our batting. We identified some errors within the group and are focusing on the things which we can do better. You need to keep wickets in hand when you are not chasing 10 or 12 runs per over. Similarly Windies came back in the game when they were chasing in one game and happened with us as well. Kuldeep got hit yesterday in the nets nothing serious but he misses out as a precaution Ravi Bishnoi takes his place." Pitch Report (Samuel Badree): "Sunny weather at the moment here in Guyana. 64m boundary to my left from the Media Centre End. The other side of the square is as well has the same distance. Straight boundaries are a bit longer. Looking at the pitch there is a bit of grass on it. Though the grass is rooted a bit it is dry underneath. The fast bowlers will have a part to play in today's match. It was dry and slow in the first match at Trinidad. The scores might be a slightly different one from the previous game." India vs West Indies 1st T20 Live This Match Will be Played at Brian Lara Stadium Tarouba Trinidad on 3rd August 2023 This Match Will Start at 8.00pm From Indian Standard time. The venue for the first game is Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba Trinidad and India would be hoping to dominate the proceedings like they did in the final ODI at the same venue couple of days back. West Indies though have some quality T20 superstars and we can expect a close intense affair. Rovman Powell will lead West Indies in T20Is and he would be looking to get back into some form after a torrid run in recent past. Along with him West Indies have powerful batters like Kyle Mayers Charles Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran who would be itching to translate his Major League Cricket form in international cricket. Hope and Holder are also back in the T20 setup while the bowling too looks pretty good with Akeal Hosein and Obed McCoy back in the mix. Expect Windies to give India a tough fight. India on the other hand have plenty of players who will be itching to prove a point at the international level. They might rest Shubman Gill and hand Yashasvi Jaiswal his debut in T20Is while Tilak Varma could also make his debut. The presence of Samson Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya make India a dangerous batting unit. Yuzvendra Chahal might finally get a game on this tour while Arshdeep Singh would add more strength to a young Indian pace attack. Can West Indies stop a rampant Indian unit and take a 1-0 lead in this T20I series? We shall find out. Suryakumar Yadav is a key member in the T20I team and he'll be hoping to get himself going in a format which has worked out well for him after an average showing in the ODI series. Umran Malik will be keen to find his rhythm and put the West Indian batters in a spot having not been at his best in the 50-over games. Meanwhile Mukesh Kumar after showcasing his skills in the Test and ODI formats in his maiden series for India will look to make a mark in the T20I format too if he is handed a debut. India have a plethora of spin options and it remains to be seen who among them get the nod. The West Indies side have plenty of quality players in their line-up but this will again be a fresh start for them after their poor showing in the T20 World Cup in Australia last year. They did win 2-1 against South Africa earlier this year and will be hoping to reflect on those performances as they look to challenge India who are starting a new journey of their own as the old guard makes way for new if the recent selections are anything to go by. What to expect: In the last match at this venue India scored 350-plus batting first in the third ODI and a similar batting-friendly wicket could be on offer. Will India rest Shubman Gill and give Jaiswal an opportunity at the top of the order to partner Ishan Kishan or play the former at No.3? Tilak or Sanju Samson for the middle order? Who among three wrist spin options and which pacer to leave out? set the ball rolling in terms of preparations for the next year's T20 World Cup which will be held in the Caribbean and the United States. Plenty of selection headaches for captain Hardik Pandya and the team management. Nicholas Pooran who missed the ODI series owing to his participation in Major League Cricket returns to the T20I side fresh off a match-winning 137 not out. The presence of Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope lend heft to the setup as does the return of Oshane Thomas to the pace department. who have played for India before but have gone off the radar a bit will be hoping to make the most of the platform. Since they currently have nothing to prove the others should have opportunities to secure positions in Nos. 4 and 5. All of these are part of getting ready for the ODI World Cup which will be held at home later this year. However the outcome in Bridgetown with all respect to a tremendous West Indies comeback was a complete letdown. Now that the decider is about to take center stage Rohit and Kohli are both anticipated to be called back for the big game on Tuesday (August 1) in order to prevent a humiliating series loss. One should stand up and give the West Indies credit for their cohesive effort in their convincing victory in the second ODI. The first game of the series in which they were dismissed for 114 in just 23 overs seemed to be a case of "Men against Boys even though Rohit and Kohli did not really have much to offer. The Caribbean outfit realized their mistakes and brought Joseph and Carty back and both of them chipped in with valuable contributions to level the series. They are therefore unlikely to alter the lineup that helped them win their first match against India in three years. Contrarily the Men in Blue will need to make difficult decisions. Suryakumar Yadav was given two opportunities but the top-ranked T20I batsman did not do much with the willow. Now it is interesting to see whether he or Samson who only got one chance gets dropped in the decider to make way for Rohit. Among the rest Kohli and Jaydev Unadkat are likely to take the place of Malik and Patel who are expected to be benched after below-par outings. So which team will emerge victorious in the decider? The irony is obvious. Sixty-six days to go for a home World Cup in which they are meant to be favorites. An experimenting India have just lost an ODI rather comprehensively to a side that was recently chastened for being unable to qualify for the World Cup. India are in a situation where even their opening pair is struggling. Shubman Gill who could do no wrong a couple of months ago has had his technique splayed apart against the Dukes ball - first at the WTC Final and then in the West Indies Tests. West Indies Team news: With no injuries being reported between the two ODIs West Indies are unlikely to tinker with a combination that has worked especially given that some of the previously benched players paid off - Carty and Mayers in particular. even if it was after giving India a sniff with four wickets in a 38-run window. And at the center of the display of character were Keacy and Hope - a veteran and one of the grittier players in the team. India Team news: It's hard to predict what India will do given their experiments in the second ODI. However it's unlikely that India will stick to their guns and risk a sinking morale in the dressing room. It's likely that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play. The real question mark lies in the middle-order they might go with. For now they don't have a World Cup to look forward to. They have no distractions and can focus on beating a scatter-brained India just one more time. What to expect: This is the first game that's being played at the Brian Lara Stadium in this tour. It is known to be a true wicket and aids strokeplay a lot more than the two-paced Barbados wicket. With an Indian batting desperately in need of a get-out-of-jail card this pitch might just be the one to give them a boost. With a typical Trinidad wicket in place it has to be advantage India - and seamers of course in that brief new-ball period.
