Every NBA season, there are a handful of potential playoff series' that catch the attention of most NBA fans, and this year in the NBA bubble in Orlando is no different. These particular series made the list for a variety of reasons - whether it be a former player matching up against their old team (like Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, and Anthony Davis), a start studded matchup that everyone wants to see (like LeBron James vs Anthony Davis), or just because it would make a compelling series in general. In a handful of different videos on this channel... I have said some not so kind things about the New York Knicks. They are one of the most mismanaged, poorly owned, and delusional franchises in American sports... and despite the title of this video - that hasn’t changed. However, as I went through and evaluated what is next for the Knicks, I found myself pleasantly surprised with how promising their future could be. With RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson on the roster, some extra draft picks in their back pocket, and the always valuable cap space available for the next few offseasons... you could even almost say that the Knicks have a plan for how to build themselves into a contender moving forward. Welcome back everybody, my name is Tucker, today’s video is the start of my 2020 “what’s next” series. This is something that I started last season, where I go through what the future looks like for all 30 teams in the NBA... and share my thoughts on how they should proceed from here (yes, I actually did all 30 teams last year). In this video I will be covering the New York Knicks, and I’ll be breaking this down into a few different parts - giving them a grade for each section along the way. First I will talk about how their team performed this past season, and which players stand out as building blocks for them moving forward. Kevin Garnett To The Celtics Is The Forgotten NBA Trade DISASTER
Kevin Garnett was involved in two of the biggest NBA trades of the last 15 years: one back in 2013 when he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in arguably the most lopsided trade in league history (which I have also done a trade rewind video on that you can check out by the way)... and the other back in 2007 when he was traded to the Boston Celtics in one of the few trades in NBA history that led directly to a championship the following season - and that is the trade that I want to go back and look at today. What You NEVER Knew About The James Harden Trade...
October 27th, 2012 is one of the most important days of the last 20 years in NBA history. That is the day that James Harden was traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Houston Rockets... just 4 months after the Thunder had reached the NBA finals with one of the most exciting young cores the league had ever seen. Looking back on it now... the details of this trade and the endless amount of “what-if” scenarios that come to mind are truly mind boggling. A team with a 1st team all-nba forward in Kevin Durant, a second team all-nba guard in Russell Westbrook, (both of whom would go on to win MVP’s) and a FUTURE MVP and one of the better scorers of the last decade in James Harden... all under 23 years old... on the same team... trading away Harden for role players, a young guard and a draft pick. However, the reasons that we have been given for the Harden trade for almost the last 10 years don't fully explain the circumstances around the trade... and in reality the team never had to trade him at all.
