Kawhi Leonard's Decision Might Just Ruin The Clippers
Kawhi Leonard's Decision Might Just Ruin The Clippers

Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers are not looking good. | ✅ Click here to buy Jarritos: https://2cart.net/180100bj #nba The Kawhi situation isn’t looking good but somehow, no one’s talking about it. I honestly feel like it’s becoming accepted as the norm. When everyone just assumes you’re not gonna play, yeah that’s a problem. Just two seasons ago, the Clippers looked to be part of a championship team. But that was derailed by Kawhi getting hurt. Now, Kawhi doesn’t look the same and that’s fine. He tore his ACL in the 2021 playoffs. He’s missed a whole season. It’s going to take time to get his legs under him so that 13.7 points per game in 25 minutes is not the worst. Apparently he’s still recovering from injury but which one? If we look at Kawhi’s game log so far, it’s weird. Of course Kawhi isn’t going to play back to backs, but it’s a game here, the. Kawhi hasn’t played more than 3 games straight this season, has missed an 11 game stretch, followed by playing 3 games, followed by missing another 6 game stretch. What’s going on? And if this is the case that his ACL tear is unique, then that also needs to be under consideration. Has Kawhi simply become more injury prone? After opening night, Kawhi stated that his knee felt a bit stiff and then boom disappeared till his re entry in November. Then Kawhi had a right sprained ankle in mid November. However, there’s a lot of confusion amongst even the Clippers organization on what’s going on. Kawhi has said that he wants to be out there, that we wants to play, but guesses that the medical staff has his best interest, but he’s also said that. But not only has the minute restriction been strict, he’s also missed 2/3rds of the season already. The priorities with Kawhi have always been for the end of the year but we’ve seen this before. And the Clippers have no where to go. The season before, Kawhi played in 79% of his games, followed a similar routine to what he had done with the Raptors where he played 73% of games. But there was one grave miscalculation. The Raptors were an established team adding one piece major piece, aka Kawhi. The 2019 Clippers were a lot of new pieces coming together. And with other players also missing the game, the team never truly found chemistry. And in the playoffs, every slight weakness is exposed. Ask Rudy, Ben, anyone. As expected, the Clippers have not done well when Kawhi misses games. In the 10 games Kawhi’s played they have an 8-2 record. In the 20 games he’s missed they’re 9-11. The offense this season is 30th in points per game at 107.6. The offensive struggles should be expected. Every night is like a game show, “whose playing for the Clippers?” Kawhi has missed 21 games, Paul George has missed 9, John Wall missed 7, Luke 11, Powell 8. For better or worse, the Clippers are going to play it safe with players. They’re focused on the playoffs. The same way the Raptors rested Kawhi so he could play every game of the post season, the Clips want to have him available for the stretch run. But with so many other key guys missing games that strategy doesn’t make as much sense because you’re not going to make the playoffs. Since Kawhi arrived in LA, the Clippers win 71% of the games he plays and only 51% of games he misses. After what went down between Kawhi and the medical staff right after his ACL injury, it seems the medical staff took a full 180. After Kawhi told them he had stiffness opening night, he’s been receiving 24/7 on the clock treatment. The way they’ve slowed his progression compared to the average acl recovery time, it’s clear they don’t want to make any mistakes. It’s also hard to tell who’s pulling the strings. Is it the organization or is it Kawhi and the organization is willing to take the brunt of the blame. But like I’ve said before, the Clippers are not getting any younger. ****They traded all their picks and lost to that team. What are we doing here? I will give the Clippers players props in that they all seem to be fine with each other, and don’t let Kawhi sitting out create a rift between them like the Spurs did. This is meant to be a championship team. With all these new pieces, changing lineups, conflicting reports, how do you being to build on-court chemistry?

It Took Anthony Davis 11 Years To Finally Pull This Off
It Took Anthony Davis 11 Years To Finally Pull This Off

Anthony Davis finally did this in 11 years. ✅ Sign up to Sorare NBA and get 20 FREE Common NBA cards on me: https://sorare.pxf.io/ALLDAY #nba Anthony Davis just scored 99 points in 2 games. Shaq with a unibrow? This was supposed all supposed to happen a lot earlier. 5 years ago, Anthony Davis finished 3rd in MVP voting at the age of 24. Even he believed that he was the best player ahead of LeBron and Durant. And it wasn’t just him. Analysts, fans, **even you.** When the Lakers won a championship, it was a foregone conclusion, but it never happened. Even in the beginning of this season, somehow the Lakers struggles were blamed on Anthony Davis not being the same dominant player. This was just 3 days ago. Now he’s averaging 18.1 points in the paint, leading the league in rebounding, and has his highest field goal percentage of his career. He was able to go head to head with the most dominant player in the NBA, Giannis, and come out on top. Just a year ago, even when AD was healthy, Giannis made him look like he was moving in slow motion, scoring over double the points 47 to 18. **The idea was that AD was more talented, but didn’t have the same mentality as Giannis.** It almost looked like Anthony Davis gave up **This is the first season that Anthony Davis has embraced being center.** If we take a look at his percentage of minutes played at power forward and center throughout his career, he has primarily played power forward with two of his best individual seasons in 2017 and 2018 when he averaged 28 points a game and nearly won both MVP and DPOY coming when he played nearly 50% or more at the center spot. And this season he’s at 98%. Here’s a chart of his points per 100 possessions at each position by year, it’s clear to see that AD is simply more effective offensively as a center. But even as a center he hadn’t fully committed to it certain seasons. When we think of a center, we think of the tallest player on the floor, a guy who dominates on the inside. Wilt, Shaq, modern day, we go to Embiid, but the NBA has changed. **He’s been an MVP level player before. This feels different.** During the 2020 bubble championship he dominated from the outside and inside. 18% of his field goal attempts were catch and shoot 3s. this year that number is down to 6%. In fact he’s pretty much stopped shooting from the outside all together. He shot 23% from 3 in the past 2 seasons.Maybe he had a wake up call when Nurkic said nah. **All this seems more sustainable.** AD sorta had a problem, he was capable of a whole lot. He grew up playing point guard till sophomore year of high school so he liked to handle the ball, shoot from the outside. It’s why AD be taking the most difficult midranges, fading away, and missing… instead of realizing he’s 6’ 10” with a 7’ 6” wingspan that faster than most forwards. Sometimes when you have a deep bag, you forget your strengths. Sorry BallDontStop. Kobe’s said this about taller guys when talking about Shaq. Now, 72% of his shots are from within 10 feet of the basket, a career high. He only takes 3.6 attempts outside of 15 feet. That’s his lowest amount since his rookie season (4.1). **AD has refused to play center throughout his whole career.** He’s made it known since his Pelicans days. In 2016, the first season he played more minutes at center than power forward, AD said "If somebody asked me, I would definitely say I'm a power forward," "No hesitation.” Even on one of his first interviews as a Laker, he mentioned “I like playing the four. I’m not even going to sugarcoat it. I like playing the four. I don’t really like playing the five ”. “If it comes down to it, coach, and you need me to play the five, then I’ll play the five,” He’s been ultra elite as the pick and & roll man scoring 7 points per game on 68% eFG%. For context, Embiid is #1 scoring 7.5 points on 55% eFG%. He’s also been great scoring off the cut, shooting a 80% eFG%. AD is cutting to the paint more than ever and finishing. He also leads the league in putback scoring and in number of dunks. He’s playing like a true big even with the Lakers not having any spacing. At one point during this streak he went 8 games without hitting a 3. His recent dominance inside has opened up some wide open attempts, which he’s knocking down but now he’s choosing t. We’ll see if he can keep shooting at 40+% from 3. And that’s fair. Prior to 2021, he played in 82% of all possible games. After the bubble, he only played in 50% of games the last 2 seasons looking like he’s having a season ending injury every game.

Russell Westbrook Is Finally Good But The Lakers Don't Care
Russell Westbrook Is Finally Good But The Lakers Don't Care

Russell Westbrook is good now, but the Lakers don’t care. ✅ Get up to 40% off Ridge with my link: https://ridge.com/mj2k from now until December 22nd! #Lakers #nba Russ is shooting better from 3 than LeBron since coming off the bench…wait what? Russ was a mess. Blown defenses, several turnovers, a lot of airballs, missed layups, and everyone let him know, the crowd, analysts, me. Even the first 3 games this season was bad. But it feels like we’ve come a long way from this… Since Russ moved to the bench, he’s averaging 15.7 points, 8.1 assists on 41.5% from the field. Honestly it doesn’t look much different than last year’s 18.5 points, 7.1 assists on 44.4% from the field. Now, Russ is on 9 of the top 10* performing 5 player lineups for the Lakers. But it’s been relatively quiet apart from the little Westbrook being Michael Jordan off the bench in the Lakers first win. The only reason why this is relevant is that the Lakers have been 7-2 in their past 9 games with very little credit going to Russ. **I haven’t seen ESPN showering his praises versus last years making a video every other day about his downfall.** Just yesterday against the Bucks, Russ had 5 assists in under 3 minutes in the first quarter, giving AD the ball deep in the paint. And instead of making it about him and Holiday on this post up, he makes a beautiful cross court pass to Reeves. And the Lakers go from being down 4 to being up 3. Watching the games, you can visibly notice the Lakers gain momentum when he steps on the court. Advanced stats back it up. He’s #8 in the league in Pace since coming off the bench at 106.22. But in the 1st quarter his pace is 109.4! Last year he was a respectable 34th at 102.57, but that was his lowest since 2018. Russ is a better player when he can run like a kid on caffeine. And it’s a dramatically different look from a LeBron offense that is pretty stagnant cause LeBron isn’t moving the ball. He gets a lot of heat for his shot selection but when on the court Russ primarily sets up teammates. He assists on 38.7% of Lakers Field goals while on the floor. That puts him 8th in the league, up there with names like Jokic and Morant. Y’all might say that’s just Russ passing for the assist. Not surprisingly, Russ is at his best when he’s on the floor with dudes who space the floor and play hard. In an extremely small sample size, the 4 man lineup of Russ, Reaves, Thomas Bryant, and Wenyen Gabriel (guy who tries), has a ridiculous net rating of +52.8. Reeves out here quietly putting together a 50/40/90 season and a lot of that has to do with Russ and the baddies…= **But the Lakers biggest issue is the weird fit between the big 3 or mainly LeBron and Russ.** It’s not possible to play all 3 in crunch time, which is why Russ’s numbers fall off a cliff in the 4th. His pace slows from 107.9 to 100.4 and his defensive rating goes from 111 to 133.6. But all these stats might explain what’s going on the court, but why did Russ all of a sudden start to play better? **Remember when Russ got “hurt” cause he was coming off the bench.** While Darvin might have benched Russ, he has given Russ more touches, allowed Westbrook to run the offense especially in minutes without LeBron. In fact, LeBron and Russ together is a no no. They are a -6.1 and the crazy thing is, it might not be Russ’s fault this time. LeBron has at several times this season jacked up bad shots and failed to play defense. That 17 point lead that the Lakers blew against the Pacers. Yeah, LeBron took several bad shots and didn’t even get back on defense as the Pacers scored 10 straight. I do believe that Darvin Ham really got through Russ and explained to him that starting isn’t everything. Ever since he’s been coming off the bench, Russ’s confidence has skyrocketed. It really does look like Russ is sacrificing some of his old way of playing the game.
