Stephen Jackson is a funny dude. Rick Strom and Jayar Jackson break it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below! Read more here: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/08/stephen-jackson-kobe-bryant-big3-question-press-conference-video-reaction “Kobe Bryant has spent much of this summer working out with NBA players like Jayson Tatum. The 39-year-old’s dedication sparked some rumors about a potential NBA comeback (which were shut down). But could we see Kobe return to competitive basketball in some capacity? Ice Cube is certainly trying to make it happen. The BIG3 head has been recruiting Kobe to join the three-on-three league, and on Sunday, Stephen Jackson was asked about the potential Kobe addition. He just couldn’t believe the question." LaVar is attacking LeBron again. Rick Strom, Jayar Jackson, and Francis Maxwell break it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below! Read more here: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2791312-lavar-ball-says-lakers-are-lonzos-team-not-lebron-james-we-already-over-here “LeBron James is a four-time MVP, three-time champion and in the discussion as the greatest player in NBA history, but he is second fiddle on the Los Angeles Lakers if LaVar Ball has anything to say about it. "How is it going to be LeBron's team? He ain't homegrown," Ball said while appearing on Power 106 in Los Angeles, via Kirstie Chiappelli of Omnisport (h/t Sporting News). "You say what you want, but we know what it is ... Lonzo didn't go to Cleveland. LeBron came over here. We already over here." Where is Anthony Davis headed to? Rick Strom breaks it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below! Read more here: https://thesportspost.com/nba-pelicans-davis-celtics-dynasty/ “As I wrote in contextualizing Paul George’s free agency, 24 players have become free agents in the summer after reaching the All-Star Game since 2010. Of those 24 players, 14 changed teams. More damning, though, is that of the 19 players on that list who became free agents without reaching the NBA Finals the year before, 13 changed teams. Of the five times that those free agents did reach the NBA Finals, they stayed in four of them. The message here is clear: when stars reach free agency without playing for an NBA Finals-caliber team, they tend to leave. That is equally true of players who are traded before they ever reach free agency. Since 2010, 13 players (Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Deron Williams in 2011, Joe Johnson, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and Andre Iguodala in 2012, Jrue Holiday in 2013, Kevin Love in 2014, Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas and Kyrie Irving in 2017) have been traded with time left on their contract after playing in the most recent All-Star Game before the deal. Wipe away Thomas, Iguodala and Bynum because there were traded simply to facilitate the greater stars in their deals. Johnson and Holiday were traded on purely basketball terms. The remaining eight players on that list all pushed to be traded because they were unhappy in their situations. In six cases, all but Howard and Irving, the player involved had never made it to the NBA Finals before." James Dolan is an idiot. Rick Strom and Francis Maxwell break it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below! Read more here: https://www.si.com/nba/2018/08/09/james-dolan-not-selling-knicks-rangers “Madison Square Garden Company executive chairman James Dolan says he has no plans to sell the New York Knicks or Rangers. Dolan appeared on Fox 5 in New York to debut a new song with his band on Thursday and repeated a stance that the Madison Square Garden Company conveyed two months about the future of both teams. "No," Dolan said. "We're not going to sell." Speculation about the fate of the Knicks and Rangers was heightened by Dolan himself when announced that he was exploring a move which would separate the Knicks and Rangers from the rest of Madison Square Garden Company. That news sent MSG's stock to climb almost 20%. MSG, also owns the WNBA's New York Liberty, NBA and NHL minor league affiliates, and a regional sports network. Forbes estimates that that the Knicks are worth $3.6 billion, with the Rangers being valued at $1.5 billion." Is this classic Kawhi Leonard? Rick Strom and Francis Maxwell break it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below! Read more here: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24328005/kawhi-leonard-toronto-raptors-breaks-silence-thank-san-antonio-spurs “New Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard summed up his farewell to San Antonio and the Spurs in two words: "Thank you." In a letter submitted to the San Antonio Express-News, Leonard thanked the Spurs organization, his former teammates, coach Gregg Popovich and the team's fans. "I have been going back and forth the last few weeks trying to figure out the right things to say, and it comes down to two simple words: THANK YOU!" Leonard wrote. Leonard's exit from San Antonio had been tumultuous. He appeared in nine games for the Spurs in 2017-18, last playing on Jan. 13 before sitting out the rest of the season with a quad injury. He was traded to the Raptors in July, along with Danny Green, in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick. Spurs doctors had cleared Leonard to return to play last season, but he sought second opinions and did not return, making his health a question mark following the trade. But he passed a physical to make the deal official." What went wrong in Oklahoma City? Rick Strom and Robert Littal break it down. Give us your thoughts in the comments below! Read more here: https://www.givemesport.com/1362805-paul-george-acknowledges-that-playing-with-carmelo-anthony-just-didnt-work “As much as I loved playing with Melo and having Melo alongside us, I understand the decision of both sides,” George said, per Michael Lee of Yahoo Sports. “It just didn’t work. It didn’t work.” In a recent interview with ESPN's Jemele Hill, Anthony opened up about his time in Oklahoma City and said the timing was one of the big reasons why things didn't go according to plan. "At the end of the day, it wasn't a good fit," he said. "I think last year -- and I haven't talked about this before -- everything was just so rushed, going to the team for media day and the day before training camp. "Them guys already had something in place, and then I come along in the 25th hour like, oh s---, Melo just come on and join us. Like, you can figure it out since you've been around the game for a long time."
