Monaco 4-0 Dijon:Keite Balde, Fabinho, Rony Lopes and Kamil Glik all score as Leonardo Jardim's riot

Monaco solidified second position in Ligue 1 with a 4-0 rout over Dijon. Goals from Keite Balde, Fabinho, Rony Lopes and Kamil Glik earned a comfortable victory which moves them four points ahead of Marseille, who play on Sunday. Monaco had already threatened by the time Balde opened the scoring in the 13th minute as the Senegal international converted Djibril Sidibe's centre to mark his return from suspension with a goal.

Hull City 2-0 Nottingham Forest: Home side end nine-game winless run in the Championship
Hull City 2-0 Nottingham Forest: Home side end nine-game winless run in the Championship

Hull ended a run of nine Sky Bet Championship games without a win as they notched a rare success on the road, 2-0 at Nottingham Forest. Forest's last win over Hull at the City Ground had come in 1977, when Brian Clough was in charge - and they rarely looked like emerging triumphant against Nigel Adkins' side, from the moment the visitors took the lead in the ninth minute. That goal came via a Jon Toral header - less than a minute after he had seen a penalty saved by Costel Pantilimon - with Harry Wilson sliding home the second in the 38th minute.

Rochdale 1-0 Millwall:Ian Henderson upsets Lions to fire League One side into the FA Cup fifth round
Rochdale 1-0 Millwall:Ian Henderson upsets Lions to fire League One side into the FA Cup fifth round

Captain Ian Henderson scored his 20th goal of the season as League One strugglers Rochdale set up a likely FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Spurs. Volunteers had worked round the clock to ensure Tuesday night's replay could go ahead at freezing Spotland on a heavily-sanded pitch. And they were rewarded after 53 minutes Calvin Andrew beat Jason Shackell and 33-year-old Henderson timed his run to convert the cross from six yards. Dale found the bobbly pitch a great leveller against the 2004 FA Cup finalists and also had the best chance of the first half when Andrew Cannon fired wide in the opening minute.

Partick Thistle 0-2 Rangers: Josh Windass and James Tavernier seal comfortable victory for the Gers
Partick Thistle 0-2 Rangers: Josh Windass and James Tavernier seal comfortable victory for the Gers

Silencing fans of Partick Thistle with a stunning strike was one thing. Urging his own supporters to keep schtum probably wasn’t the smartest move Josh Windass has ever made. There’s something about Firhill which brings out the best - and the worst - in the Rangers attacker. The goal gestures are welcome. The hand gestures less so. In September, the Englishman took umbrage at home supporters refusing to give the ball back in a 2-2 draw and employed an ill-advised one-handed gesture to tell them so.

Ross County 1-2 Rangers: Daniel Candeias and Jason Cummings gift Gers a vital three points
Ross County 1-2 Rangers: Daniel Candeias and Jason Cummings gift Gers a vital three points

Jason Cummings came off the bench to score his first Rangers goal and seal his new club's 2-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall. Graeme Murty's men were ahead midway through the first period thanks to Daniel Candeias' strike, but despite dominating the possession stats for large spells, the visitors found chances hard to come by.

Middlesbrough 0-1 Brighton: Glenn Murray rounds off bad week with fortunate injury-time winner
Middlesbrough 0-1 Brighton: Glenn Murray rounds off bad week with fortunate injury-time winner

An eventful week had a happy ending for Glenn Murray as his late winner at least spared both clubs the pain of a replay. The Brighton striker and his wife were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of a £1.1million tax fraud. But Murray came from the bench to score the game's only goal in the 90th minute, albeit fortuitously when George Friend's attempted clearance cannoned off the substitute's standing knee and flew beyond Darren Randolph in the home goal.

Bayern Munich 4-2 Werder Bremen: Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller both score twice
Bayern Munich 4-2 Werder Bremen: Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller both score twice

Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Bayern Munich stretched its considerable Bundesliga lead even further Sunday with a 4-2 win over visiting Werder Bremen. It's the sixth consecutive round in which Bayern has extended its lead since a defeat at Borussia Moenchengladbach in the 13th round - Jupp Heynckes' only blot in 17 games across all competitions since he returned as coach. Bayern moved 16 points clear after 19 rounds of the league, though Schalke could reduce that to 14 with a win over Hannover in Sunday's late game.

Stoke City 2-0 Huddersfield: Paul Lambert winning start as goals from Joe Allen and Mame Biram Diouf
Stoke City 2-0 Huddersfield: Paul Lambert winning start as goals from Joe Allen and Mame Biram Diouf

At his Tuesday unveiling, Paul Lambert said he did not care if he was ‘fifteenth or fiftieth’ choice for the Stoke City job. After a rousing second-half performance secured an instant impact for the Glaswegian, the Potters supporters who slated his appointment may well share those emotions. The bet365 stadium on a freezing January afternoon did not seem like an obvious place for a party, especially after a turgid opening stanza best forgotten. But goals from Joe Allen and Mame Diouf – and a clean sheet rarer than rocking horse droppings in these parts – had them dancing in its aisles. Not that Lambert, whose side clambered out of the relegation zone, until Sunday afternoon at least, was in the mood for hitting the town.
