TOLEDO, Ohio -- Logan Woodside tied a school record with six touchdown passes and Jameson Vest's 33-yard field goal as time expired lifted Toledo to a 54-51 comeback win on Saturday night against Tulsa. From the shotgun, Woodside threw his sixth score, a 74-yard bomb just before getting pounded to the turf, to Diontae Johnson to put Toledo out front 51-44 with 8:04 left. Woodside threw a 49-yard strike to Johnson two minutes earlier, and the 2-point conversion tied the game at 44. Shamari Brooks' 1-yard dive for Tulsa knotted the game at 51 to end a 14-play, 81-yard drive with 2:47 remaining. Toledo (3-0) drove 58 yards in eight plays to set up Vest's kick. Brooks' 8-yard scoring run with 5:01 before halftime put Tulsa (1-2) ahead 28-7. The 21-point deficit is tied for the third-largest comeback win in Toledo's history. Woodside tied Bruce Gradkowski's 6 TD feat which he accomplished twice. Woodside was 22 for 33 with 458 yards. Cody Thompson had nine receptions for 178 yards and three scores and Johnson had four catches for 142 yards and two scores. Terry Swanson ran for 139 yards on 19 carries and a score. MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Riley Ferguson threw for 398 yards and six touchdown passes, and Jacobi Francis broke up a fourth-down pass in the closing seconds to lead Memphis to a 48-45 win over No. 25 UCLA on Saturday. Francis' breakup with 56 seconds left prevented another fourth-quarter comeback by Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen, who finished the game with 463 yards on 34 of 56 throws and four TD passes. ADVERTISEMENT But unlike in the Bruins' opener when Rosen engineered a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Texas A&M, the Memphis defense stiffened on UCLA's final possession, sending the Bruins (2-1) to their first loss of the season. For all of the hype about Rosen, considered one of the top quarterbacks in the country, Ferguson matched his counterpart, completing 23 of 38 passes for Memphis (2-0), and his connections with wide receiver Anthony Miller meant the difference. Miller caught nine passes for 185 yards and a pair of touchdowns. UCLA had taken a 45-41 lead early in the fourth quarter on a 22-yard pass from Rosen to Austin Roberts with 11:51 left. But Memphis answered with a 4-play, 81-yard drive, the final 3 coming on a pass from Ferguson to Phil Mayhue with 9:56 left to go ahead. From there, it was up to the Tigers' defense, which was capped by Francis' knock-away, sending the Memphis fans into celebration mode, after the Tigers defeated their third ranked opponent in each of the last three seasons. Rosen, who had not thrown an interception in the first two games, threw two picks, one of which was returned 60 yards for a touchdown by Memphis linebacker Tim Hart in the third quarter. His other interception stalled a UCLA drive deep in Memphis territory with just under 7 minutes left. THE TAKEAWAY UCLA: Rosen made a couple of bad decisions that led to interceptions, including Hart's pick six. The Bruins did have a more successful rushing attack against the Tigers, including Bo Olorunfunmi gaining 82 yards on 13 carries. MEMPHIS: The Tigers managed to answer scores by UCLA throughout the game. They used a pair of screen passes for scores at a time when the Bruins had thwarted the running game. UP NEXT UCLA: After three non-conference games to open the season, the Bruins open Pac-12 play on the road at No. 19 Stanford next Saturday. MEMPHIS: The Tigers play their third straight home game to open the season, facing Southern Illinois next Saturday. Memphis has played three home games because its Sept. 9 game at Central Florida was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. The American Athletic Conference announced Thursday that the Tigers-Knights game is rescheduled for Sept. 30. Visit TheAmerican.org for more information.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Ex-Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen threw for 225 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted twice in his first game for Houston and the Cougars had to hold on to beat Arizona 19-16 in their week-delayed season opener on Saturday night. Houston (1-0) gave Major Applewhite a victory in his head coaching debut a week after the scheduled opener at UTSA was canceled due to Hurricane Harvey. John Leday's 81-yard kickoff return set up Houston's go-ahead touchdown with 45 seconds left in the first half. Josh Pollack kicked three field goals for Arizona (1-1), the last, from 42, yards cut the lead to 19-16 with 8:32 to play. Khalil Tate replaced Arizona quarterback Brandon Dawkins early in the fourth quarter and the Wildcats were at the Houston 32 when Garrett Davis' interception with 3:49 remaining preserved the win. Dawkins, who returned for the final three minutes, fumbled the ball away twice, one for a safety, in the second half. Allen, one of the nation's top recruits from suburban Phoenix in 2013, started 14 games and played in 20 for Texas A&M before transferring to Houston. He sat out last season as a redshirt. Allen, who completed 25 of 32 passes, threw 49 yards to Keith Corbin to set up his first TD pass as a Cougar, five yards to Linell Bonner to put Houston up 10-3 with five minutes left in the half. Arizona, helped by a pass interference penalty in the end zone, tied it 10-10 on Zach Green's 1-yard run 2:22 before halftime. Leday took the subsequent kickoff and the last man who had a chance to stop him, Kwesi Mashack, tackled him at the Wildcats 16. Dillon Birden's 3-yard touchdown run with 45 seconds gave Houston its 17-10 halftime lead. Visit TheAmerican.org for more information.

Ty Isaac ran for a career-high 133 yards and Wilton Speight threw for two touchdowns to help No. 8 Michigan overcome a sluggish performance to pull away and beat the Bearcats 36-14 on Saturday. The Wolverines led by just three points early in the second half and were booed until getting the fans behind them again by scoring 19 straight points to turn a closely contested game into a lopsided one. The Bearcats (1-1), failing to take advantage of Michigan's many mistakes and making some miscues of their own to spoil an upset bid. "Our ability to finish is a stress for our program," said Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell, a former Ohio State interim coach, assistant and player. "That's the thing that hurts, and really leaves a bad taste in the mouth." THE TAKEAWAY: CINCINNATI: The Bearcats should come away encouraged that they had a chance to win a game in which they were five-touchdown underdogs, but they are lamenting missed opportunities against a major program after struggling to beat Austin Peay . Milton capped the opening drive with a 22-yard scoring pass to Jordan Atkins, and the Knights capitalized on an interception and a safety to lead 40-10 at halftime. Milton was 16 of 21, with TD strikes of 50 and 3 yards to Tre'Quan Smith and 13 yards to Gabriel Davis before he and many other starters were pulled in the third quarter. Four UCF rushers scored -- Jawon Hamilton on a 16-yarder, Taj McGowan on a plunge, Cordarrian Richardson on a 10-yard run, and Greg McRae on a 6-yarder. FIU's Alex McGough hit Thomas Owens on a 75-yard TD pass and Napoleon Maxwell scored on a 55-yard run. The Golden Panthers turned it over four times.
