NBA news LeBron James WORRY, Kawhi Leonard Clippers and Lakers decision, Luke Walton sack

NBA news: LeBron James WORRY, Kawhi Leonard Clippers and Lakers decision, Luke Walton sack. LeBron James is tired and Los Angeles Lakers’ dependency on him is a major worry, NBA pundit Greg Jennings says. “Watching LeBron James, he looks fatigued,” former NFL ace Jennings told Fox Sports’ The Undisputed. “He looks out of gas. “He played 43 minutes in a game against the Hawks, right before the All-Star break. “You’re thinking I might be able to get rest going into the break because I have to participate in the All-Star weekend. “He has to participate in all different activities and functions as well as playing the game. “That’ll create some fatigue on LeBron’s side.” James recently returned from a groin injury which sidelined him for 17 games, however, the Lakers superstar has struggled to dominate since coming back. Kawhi Leonard will make the right decision over his future this summer amid interest from the Los Angeles Clippers and the Lakers, Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri claims. Speaking to Sportsnet’s Prime Time Sports over the free agent to be, Ujiri said: “We’re going to be ourselves. There is a huge advantage in recruiting in having him in our house for one year. “I’ll take that every day over doing the one-hour presentation to a free agent. He gets to see us, who we are, we can build trust, build a relationship. “Kawhi’s a grown man, he’s going to decide what he wants to do. I believe just from getting to know Kawhi very, very well now and more that he will make the right decision. “Our part is to keep doing what we’re doing. His health is our priority. Winning a championship is his priority and I feel that really strongly for us. “We’re going to do everything we can that we’re the right organisation and the right place. It’s not just talking. “Recruiting is recruiting but we have him every day, he sees who we are and he sees the organisation that we are and I think there’s a lot of substance to that. “He’s going to make his decision at the end of the year, he’s told us that, he’s told me that. I’m fine with that. When you’re in a position like this, you have a right to look at all your options. “We just want to make our option the strongest one and the best one.” The Lakers will not sack Luke Walton, it’s claimed. Reports this week suggested Lakers president Magic Johnson is ready to fire the head coach after a poor run of form. However, despite the Lakers being 28-29, Walton will be going nowhere, Lakers Nation claim. “Nothing is going to happen with Luke,” one source said. “There hasn’t even been any talk about it and there won’t be any talks about it. “Luke will definitely finish the season and he has the full support. “So any talk in the media or on social media can be put to bed about Luke. He’s not going anywhere. There has been no conversation about it.”

Stuart Hogg goes MENTAL on sidelines in Six Nations rant during Scotland vs Ireland
Stuart Hogg goes MENTAL on sidelines in Six Nations rant during Scotland vs Ireland

Stuart Hogg goes MENTAL on sidelines in Six Nations rant during Scotland vs Ireland. The 26-year-old Scotland star had to be subbed off midway through the first half with a shoulder injury. He had seen his side conceded two tries early but his replacement Blair Kinghorn inspired some much-needed momentum. Sam Johnson touched down to get Scotland back within two points but they butchered a late chance that left Hogg fuming. Wearing a long coat on the touchline, Hogg blew his top and started shouting before marching towards an advertising board and kicking a hole in it. He then turned and stormed down the tunnel leaving fellow subs on the sidelines stunned. Footage of the incident was shown at half-time by the BBC and it was met with a mixed reaction. One fan tweeted a laughing emoji and write: "Hogg kicking a hole in the hoarding!" But one fan disagreed and wrote: "Stuart Hogg needs repremanding for kicking a hole in the advertising board." Hogg's frustrations were no doubt triggered by the fact he was hit by a late, no-arms tackle from Peter O'Mahony that left him clutching his head. It went unpunished but even former Irish captain Paul O'Connell felt it should have been a penalty. "I think it's late. Peter probably puts his elbow out which is what catches him," he said while working as a pundit for the BBC. "Although I don't think it's where he gets injured as he held his head at the start and then he gets up and holds his shoulder. "I don't think it's where he gets injured but I do think it's a penalty."

Comilla Victorians vs Dhaka Dynamites TV channel: How to watch BPL final on TV. Comilla Victorians booked their place in the final of the sixth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League with a thumping eight-wicket win over defending champions Rangpur Riders in the first qualifier. West Indian batsman Evin Lewis led Comilla's chase of 166 with seven balls to spare with a fluent 53-ball 71, plus plenty of support from Tamim Iqbal (17), Anamul Haque (39) and Shamsur Rahman (34 not out). Rangpur, who were playing without star batsmen AB de Villiers and Alex Hales, managed 165 for five after opting to bat, courtesy of a late cameo of 53 off just 28 deliveries from English all-rounder Benny Howell. Chris Gayle scored 46 off 44 while Rilee Rossouw notched 44 off 31 deliveries. Riders did have a second chance of reaching the final but failed to get the better of Dhaka Dynamites in the second qualifier. Rubel Hossain and Andre Russell were particularly impressive with ball and bat respectively in the Dynamites' dominant victory over the defending champions. Hossain was astute with the ball, his 4 for 23 keeping the Riders to a very modest 142. The Dynamites' chase was then steered by an unbeaten 19-ball 40 from Russell, who took advantage of the foundation laid by Rony Talukdar (35 off 24) to take Dhaka into the BPL final. The Bangladesh Premier League final gets underway at 1pm GMT. Live television and online coverage of the BPL is widely available in the UK. Six Nations England and Ireland using this weekend as ma ssive World Cup preparation
Six Nations England and Ireland using this weekend as ma ssive World Cup preparation

Six Nations: England and Ireland using this weekend as massive World Cup preparation. Scotland versus Ireland today and England against France tomorrow are stadium-fillers in their own right, but also fascinating forerunners of pivotal group games at Japan 2019. The outcomes will not by themselves determine who makes the knockout stages 6,000 miles east in seven months’ time, but there are significant psychological blows to be landed. Imagine, say, if the Scots can edge out an Ireland side still trying to recover from the pummelling they took from England for the second time in three years? That would open up Pool A significantly. Or if England do not simply see off the French at Twickenham but really put Les Bleus to the sword? Jacques Brunel’s side, already the Six Nations’ eccentric uncle in the armchair, would turn up in Yokohama with more hang-ups than Donatella Versace’s wardrobe. On the evidence of the opening weekend, both those scenarios are entirely possible. The joy of the Six Nations though is that it very rarely evolves in a straight line. What if the Irish deliver a backlash after their Dublin bruising and raze Murrayfield to the ground? How then do the Scots view their opening World Cup game with no home advantage to fall back on? Not very positively. Or what if France turn up for 80 minutes rather than 40 this week and take England to the wire? The mental equation shifts again. And this is a weekend of the mind. England versus France has been billed as a physical tear-up in keeping with the traditions of Le Crunch. With Manu Tuilagi running into Mathieu Bastareaud that will certainly be a part of the show. But just as important is the brain game. England’s players have talked in the aftermath of Dublin about how free they felt going to the Aviva Stadium as underdogs. They played on that in the build-up and thrived on it during a ferociously intense contest. At home to a France side which at one moment can look glorious, the next grotesque, the roles are reversed. England are overwhelming favourites and expected to win comfortably. The Top 14 may be swimming in cash but the French national side, who lost to Fiji in the autumn, are drowning in criticism after their home loss to Wales. “I’d expect a big reaction. The French never to want lose at home so for that to happen last week will cut them deep. They will be flying into this weekend with every intention of winning the game,” warned England wing Chris Ashton. “They’ve always been emotional people and players – that can work for and against them – but I’m sure they will be channelling that in the right direction this weekend. They have to. “They are a couple of wins away from where they should be so I’m sure they are doing everything they can to get back on track and winning at Twickenham is a great opportunity for them to do that.” For England, against a side rated 6-1 outsiders in a two-horse race, complacency is the enemy. “It’s always there. It’s human nature so we’re always fighting complacency. Sometimes the shadows get a bit bigger and sometimes they’re smaller, but they’re always there,” acknowledged Eddie Jones. In Edinburgh, Joe Schmidt’s side will be under a different sort of pressure; the pressure to stay in the championship. Another loss and the Grand Slam champions are gone from this year’s race. A good suit does not go out of fashion in the space of a week, but Ireland have important cogs missing at Murrayfield, not least in the second row where the Scots have their tackling machine Jonny Gray back. Inside the Irish heads which thought of nothing but victory after their awesome autumn, there might be the odd tinge of doubt this afternoon. “We were off last week and you do question yourself a heck of a lot,” admitted Ireland

Lakers executive Rob Pelinka makes bold playoff claim, talks Anthony Davis trade saga
Lakers executive Rob Pelinka makes bold playoff claim, talks Anthony Davis trade saga

Lakers executive Rob Pelinka makes bold playoff claim, talks Anthony Davis trade saga. The trade deadline passed on Thursday with the Lakers unable to acquire their top target, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis. While the Lakers offered the house for the six-time All-Star, New Orleans continued to up their demands and the Lakers walked away from conversations on Wednesday and no contact was made after that before the deadline. The Lakers did do other business to acquire Reggie Bullock from the Detroit Pistons and Mike Muscala from the LA Clippers, giving up Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and a 2021 second-round pick in the first deal and Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley in the latter. Those deals were designed to improve the Lakers’ perimeter shooting and while neither were on the court, the Lakers made a franchise-best 22 three-point shots in a last-second win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. Rajon Rondo hit a buzzer-beating game-winner at TD Garden for a 129-128 win despite the Lakers having been 18 points down at one point. That displayed L.A.’s threat as they seek to get back into the playoff picture, having gone 6-11 while LeBron James was out injured for 17 straight games to slip well down the Western Conference standings. “There’s no question that was the goal,” Pelinka told Spectrum SportsNet when asked about the Lakers’ hopes of making a deep run into the playoffs. “When we had a significant slew of injuries, we were fourth. We were just a couple games back of second or third seed in the West on Christmas Day when LeBron got injured.  “We can’t look at that as an excuse. We have to look at it as an opportunity. Life is full of circumstances that you can’t predict.  “They fly at you and you have to react to it, you’ve got to batten down the hatches and find a way to get through it.  “Hopefully with our team we’ve gone through some of this adversity and it’ll meld us together.  “If we can get in the playoffs, I wouldn’t want to see us in any seven-game match-up, that’s for sure.” And though the impact of trade rumours appeared to have an effect earlier in the week when the Lakers lost by 42 points to the Indiana Pacers, Pelinka is confident the team can move past the tumultuous Davis trade saga. He added: “The NBA rules are so strict are so tough around us talking around specific transaction, specific trade and specific player on another team so I can’t really get into this.  “But overall, from Jeanie [Buss], to Magic [Johnson], to myself, to Luke [Walton], we always want to be aggressive, to do everything we can to put ourselves in a championship position every season.  “At every trade deadline, this one and in future ones, we’re going to continue to be aggressive until we accomplish that mission. “I think at the end of the day all of us have jobs that are being publicly discussed. The wins and losses and the front office are being publicly discussed.  “Good trade, bad trade. Same for players. That’s just part of the territory. I think it’s important to recognise that’s part of the business.  “Hopefully, with the trade deadline over, the group will just stay together. We have a mission to try to make a playoff push, get in the playoffs and make some noise.”

Anthony Davis Pelicans star's stance on Lakers trade after Magic Johnson makes new offer
Anthony Davis Pelicans star's stance on Lakers trade after Magic Johnson makes new offer

Anthony Davis: Pelicans star's stance on Lakers trade after Magic Johnson makes new offer. Davis could leave the Pelicans before Thursday’s trade deadline, with the Lakers hellbent on securing the services of the 25-year-old. The Los Angeles outfit are dreaming of pairing the superstar with LeBron James as they aim to close the gap on their Western Conference rivals. Today, it emerged that the Lakers had submitted a fresh bid for Davis as they aim to get his deal over the line. President Magic Johnson reportedly offered the Pelicans multiple young players, draft picks and salary-cap relief. And ESPN say Davis has decided he wants to join the Lakers. It is claimed he would also be open to moving to the Milwaukee Bucks, LA Clippers or New York Knicks. But it is said that he is not interested in moving to the Boston Celtics, who were hoping to snap him up at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Sport Interactive’s Rohan Nadkarni believes the Lakers should switch their attentions away from Davis. And he reckons Bradley Beal would be a suitable alternative. “If L.A. knows it can’t acquire Davis before the trade deadline, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka should take a hard look at Brad Beal,” Nadkarni wrote. “He seems like an ideal guard to slot alongside LeBron, and he shouldn’t need as many assets to acquire as some other stars mentioned in trade rumours. “Washington has long needed to been selling, and Ingram may be the best they can do in terms of prospects as everyone hoards their chips for other big names. “The Lakers would still have some cap space to play with this summer if they made this move, and potentially more if they can eventually find the right deal for Lonzo Ball. “This trade obviously isn’t Los Angeles’s grand plan, but the longer the Lakers go without Davis, the more realistic they’ll need to be about capitalising on James’s talents.” Davis will become a free agent in 2020. But he appears to want a move to the Lakers sooner and, preferably, before the deadline.

Chelsea blocked Michy Batshuayi to Tottenham with ONE ridiculous demand before Palace deal
Chelsea blocked Michy Batshuayi to Tottenham with ONE ridiculous demand before Palace deal

Chelsea blocked Michy Batshuayi to Tottenham with ONE ridiculous demand before Palace deal. That figure is FOUR times more than they wanted from his other potential suitors. The Belgian striker did eventually leave Stamford Bridge after sealing a switch to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season. But The Mirror claim they were determined not to let him join Spurs because of the animosity between the two clubs. There have been tensions ever since Chelsea beat Spurs three years ago to take their London rivals out of the running for the Premier League title by handing it to Leicester. And Chelsea’s decision to send Batshuayi to Palace might have dealt another blow to their title hopes this season. They already without the injured Harry Kane, who is out until March. Fernando Llorente has covered in Kane’s absence but struggled despite scoring the winner against Watford in a 2-1 victory on Wednesday. It is now two transfer windows with no signings for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. And while Spurs were left licking their wounds on Friday morning, Palace chairman Steve Parish was delighted to sign Batshuayi ahead of them. "This is a fantastic signing for Crystal Palace," he said. "Michy is a player we've long admired, and I'm delighted that we've finally managed to get him in a red and blue shirt. He will be a magnificent addition to our squad." Batshuayi has been at Chelsea since they paid Marseille £33m to sign him in 2016. Despite arriving with a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising strikers, he failed to settle and has scored only 19 goals in 53 appearances for the club in all competitions. He was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of last season but failed to secure a permanent transfer to Germany despite nine goals in 14 games. Batshuayi endured a torrid time at Valencia for the first half of this season before returning to Chelsea and moving to Palace.
