Pak vs SL: Shaheen Shah Afridi makes century of Test wickets Pakistani pace ace Shaheen Shah Afridi has taken a total of 100 Test wickets, becoming the 19th player of the Green Shirts to have achieved this feat. The pacer's feat came during Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka, when he dismissed Nishan Madushka in the second over of the first Test match at Galle. The speedster officially made a comeback to Test cricket on Sunday, when he opened the bowling for tourists on the day one of the first Test at the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 that marked the start of action-packed 2023-24 international cricket season for the home side. BPL franchise Comilla Victorians fly in Mohammad Rizwan via helicopter The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) side Comilla Victorians flew in Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan via helicopter ahead of their match against Fortune Barishal on Saturday. According to Bangladesh daily Prothom Alo, Rizwan arrived in Dhaka at 10:20am, local time, and then boarded a helicopter, which landed at the Women's Sports Complex ground beside the Zahur Ahmed Chowhdury Stadium in Chattogram at 12:45pm. The Pakistan star landed around an hour before the match and was named in the playing XI. It must be noted that Rizwan was part of Pakistan’s playing XI for the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand on Friday. He had left for the airport as soon as the match finished in Karachi. After deciding to field first, the Victorians were set a target of 178 runs after Barishal’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan scored an unbeaten 45-ball 81. While chasing the target, Rizwan was dismissed after scoring 18 runs in 11 balls with the help of two sixes. However, Victorians fell short of the target by 12 runs after scoring 165-7 in 20 overs. Khushdil Shah scored an unbeaten 43 runs in 27 balls, with the help of a four and four sixes, but it was not enough for his team to get over the line. Saeed Ajmal responds firmly to critics for calling Babar Azam 'selfish'
Former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has given a firm response to critics for calling the Men in Green skipper Babar Azam "selfish". Azam faced criticism after scoring 79 runs in 144 balls, at a strike rate of 69.3 during the second ODI against New Zealand on Wednesday. However, Ajmal hit back at critics by stating that "if Babar Azam is selfish, then we need two to three additional such players in the team." "Babar Azam is a good player and any negative aspect of his game can be rectified," he added. It must be noted that opener Devon Conway hit a sparkling hundred to help New Zealand achieve a convincing 79-run win over Pakistan in the second ODI. The left-hander scored 101 and captain Kane Williamson made 85 before a collapse which saw New Zealand lose nine wickets for 78 runs and restricted them to 261 all out in 49.5 overs. Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals and despite a fighting 79 from skipper Babar Azam, the home team was dismissed for 182 to leave the three-match series tied at 1-1. Ajmal also voiced his opinion against having different captains for all three formats of the game. "There is no need for separate captains in all three formats. If they still want to do it, then they should only opt for separate captains in white and red-ball cricket," he said. The Islamabad United Assistant Coach also stated that Shadab Khan will recover from the injury before the upcoming eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Pakistan vice-captain was not considered for selection, for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, after he suffered a fracture on his right index finger in Australia during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).
